Canadian singer-songwriter, Alanis Morissette, speaks out about her personal experience with pregnancy and miscarriage over the years while at the same time announcing she is now pregnant with her third child.

Morissette, 45, has two children thus far: Ever, 8, and Onyx, 2. She and her husband, Mario 'Souleye' Treadway, have been trying for a third child for a while but have had reoccurring miscarriages up until this pregnancy. The experience has been life-altering for Morissette, who has learned not only about grief but about her own body as well.

The singer says that with all of the miscarriages she has endured, she started worrying that she may not be able to have any more children. This worry led her to try and figure out why no pregnancies were successful during the couples' time of trying. "I chased and prayed for pregnancy and learned so much about my body and biochemistry and immunity and gynecology through the process," she remembers.

After a long wait full of disappointment and grief, Alanis Morissette is now excited to announce she is pregnant with her third baby. Although treading on the side of caution, the singer remains hopeful this pregnancy will last. One aspect of pregnancy and post-partum recovery that she is focusing on more this time around is Postpartum Depression. Previously suffering from the condition, which is more common than most women think, Morissette says she is not waiting or refusing help this time around.

Parade reports that Morissette admits that she waited a year and four months with her first child before seeking help, four months with her second child, and now is waiting no more than four minutes with this current child. One aspect in terms of recovery that Morissette stresses is the importance of equal partnership. Thankfully, her husband Mario is a very supportive and involved father.

Alanis Morissette recognizes through her own trials and tribulations that motherhood isn't easy, especially if you're struggling with grief or mental trauma while trying to juggle all of the tasks that come with it.

If you're suffering from grief, whether it be from miscarriages or pregnancy/birth complications, or if you are recovering post-partum and the mental struggle is getting to be too much, as Alanis Morissette has learned, seeking help early on can make a world of difference.
