‘The Bachelorette’ star Ali Fedotowsky recently went through a scary ordeal when she had to rush her toddler to Urgent Care after his splinter turned into an infection.

The former reality star and her husband Kevin Manno share two children; 3-year old Molly and 14-month old Riley. This past Monday, Ali shared via her Instagram story that the parents had to rush their son to Urgent Care when he began showing signs of an infection. The symptoms began five days after the toddler got a splinter in his pinky toe.

“I’m freaking out right now,” Fedotowsky told the camera. “I’m sure he’s gonna be fine, but I’m just freaking out right now and I’m doing this Instagram Story because I don’t know how else … I’m pacing around the house.”

The TV personality went on to explain that her husband noticed their son’s toe was red and swollen. Even more alarming, it appeared to be spreading up his leg. They called their family doctor, who told them they needed to take him to Urgent Care immediately.

The next day, the star revealed that the doctor had given her son antibiotics and confirmed the infection was indeed caused by the splinter. However, the doctor said it wasn’t anything to be concerned with. Fedotowsky added that swelling in her son’s leg had gone down, as he seemed to be responding well to the medication. They also had a follow-up appointment with their regular doctor the following day.

“I think I just freaked out because I was out at [a] taping and everything was so fun and fast-paced and then I got home and found all this was going on and just panicked,” the mom-of-two wrote for her followers via her story.

She added, “Plus, I’ve read one too many tragedies on the Internet about things that happened from infections. I need to stop reading these things.”

Fans have always appreciated how candid Fedotowsky is over social media about parenthood. She isn’t afraid to get real about the good, the bad, and the ugly, especially on her lifestyle blog. Speaking to Parade last month, the personality discussed how motherhood is a full-time job.

“That there are no breaks. There’s never just a Sunday to binge watch movies on your couch,” she explained. “And again, you can hire somebody to come watch your kids or ask friends or as family to come watch your kids […] But the mommy guilt, I have too much.”
