Amber Portwood is still in the midst of a custody battle and domestic violence dispute with her ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon. But the reality star already has a new man in her life! The Ashley’s Reality Roundup recently reported that Amber has been seeing someone new. That special someone is Dimitri Garcia. The pair originally met online after Dimitri (a fan of the Teen Mom franchise) reached out to Amber. A source told The Ashley that Amber flew her new boyfriend out to America on a one-way ticket. Moreover, Dimitri has reportedly already filmed some scenes for Teen Mom OG.
The same source explained that Dimitri doesn’t speak much English, which has created a language barrier between him and the filming crew. The insider went on to add that Amber has already been pressuring MTV to pay Dimitri for filming. But since he’s not legally allowed to work in the U.S. at the moment, the producers are unable to meet Amber’s requests.
Amber’s new romance comes as a surprise to most fans, given that her ongoing issues with her former boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, with whom she shares 1-year old son James (she also has an 11-year old daughter from a previous relationship). Amber was arrested for domestic violence against Andrew in July, leading to their break-up. The reality star is currently facing several charges for the incident. Andrew also has primary custody of their son, which has caused co-parenting issues between the couple.
Earlier this month, BabyGaga reported that Amber filed a motion to have Andrew held in contempt for violating their temporary custody agreement. Andrew took James out of state for the holidays, which Amber says interfered with her visitation. She also alleges her ex failed to inform her of the severity of a dog bite the toddler suffered during. Amber says Andrew has been resistant to reply to her attempts at communication and has only provided her with information when her legal team has intervened. The case is ongoing.
Although Amber sounds happy with her new beau, those close to the mother-of-two aren’t quite convinced. The same source told The Ashley that Dimitri reminds many people of Amber’s controversial ex Matt Baier, whom she dated prior to getting involved with Andrew. Matt infamously lied about the number of children he had and allegedly used Amber’s money and fame to his advantage. Amber originally met Andrew while she was filming Couple’s Therapy with Matt, though they were estranged at the time.
Of Dimitri, the source explained, “He has young kids in Europe that he left to be with Amber in the United States, which made a lot of people think of [Matt] Baier. She had only been talking to him a short time before she flew him out here, so it’s a strange situation, and the language barrier makes it even weirder.” They added, “Plus he’s almost 40 so he is definitely giving people Matt Baier vibes.”
Despite reports that Amber purchased Dimitri a one-way ticket, a different source told Hollywood Life the pair aren’t official at the moment. “She doesn’t consider him her official boyfriend. However, she’s enjoying getting to know him and seeing where it goes,” they explained. The source also denied that Amber bought him a ticket or has been financially supporting him.
