Ashley Graham truly has some unique ideas, and her baby shower reverberates her inimitable thoughts, which was utterly unlike the traditional baby showers where the mother’s belly is wrapped with toilet paper, or guests get a hint of the weight and gender of the baby.
Ashley Graham and her friends threw one of the grandest parties of the year at The Foundry in New York City – a glimpse of which her fans get from social media posts of her guests. CNN Style show host Derek Blasberg posted a sequence of videos where you can see the guests enjoying stations with piercings, manicures, and tattoos. Some of the traditional touch that the celebration had included was “It's a mom!" signs, cupcakes, and candy.
Graham's friend and doula Latham Thomas shared further details about the night's activities. Thomas captioned the Instagram post, "This shower was so 🔥 @kissthedeejay was on the 1s and 2s, you could get tattoos, ear piercings and decorate baby onesies that are being donated to families in need. I was too chicken to get a tat or another ear-piercing 😂@Fridamom made a custom labor and delivery kit for Ashley - so adorable!!!!"
Another unique aspect of the co-ed shower, which the would-be mom shared with Fallon, 45, shared, “We were handing out vag cream from Fridababy.”She added, “We also had onesies that everybody could decorate, and we donated them to moms in need. So it was really special.”
In another video of Thomas, it shows Graham, in her custom Victor Glemaud, giving a toast saying the party was "bigger than our wedding" and "like Christmas." The Pretty Big Deal podcast host added, “If you haven’t gotten your ears pierced or a tattoo, you have to do that. There’s so much food, there’s a big cake that’s bigger than the one at our wedding.”
Graham seemed to enjoy herself to the fullest, posing for pictures with guests, including her baby's two grandmothers And obviously, it didn't go without dancing, which clearly shows Graham's moves in spite of her growing body. Graham joked about her Vogue feature, saying, “You can be on the cover of Vogue! And it’s my semi-solo cover. Semi-solo.”
Recalling the photoshoot captured by photographer Annie Leibovitz, The American Beauty Star said, “It was a remarkable day. It reminded me that anything is possible. A girl like me from Nebraska can have anything you want, as long as you just fight for it and you believe in yourself. That’s the biggest thing.”
The baby on the way, a boy, is Graham’s first child with husband Ervin. The duo met in 2009, got engaged in 2010, and after enjoying a short two-month engagement, they exchanged vows on August 14, 2010.
