Ashley Tisdale is opening up about the struggles she faced while breastfeeding as well as the “fourth trimester.” When society thinks of pregnancy, breastfeeding, and life with a new baby, it is almost always painted as a time of bliss and joy. Women are supposed to be in heaven with their new baby, and their lives are supposed to feel complete. However, that is not the reality for a lot of women out there and celebrities can help to break the stigma attached to the struggles that come with being a new mom.

According to Today, Ashley Tisdale has opened up about her breastfeeding struggles with her newborn, and how no one prepared her for what it would be like. Ashley’s baby, Jupiter, is now 6 weeks old and that means that Ashley is right in the middle of the “fourth trimester.” According to Mother.ly, Ashley had previously opened up about normalizing recovery from childbirth and pregnancy and how hard this trimester can be on women.

The fourth trimester is known as that time period right after you have a baby, and it can be very tough. When celebrities like Ashley open up about her experience, it can help normalize the struggle it can be for every other mom out there. Ashley said that the hardest thing about bringing baby Jupiter home was breastfeeding.

She said that right from the beginning, her baby wouldn’t latch and that she had tried different things to help, like nipple shields. She said that Jupiter was getting incredibly frustrated, and then Ashley would get frustrated, and it became a cycle. She said that it was an incredibly emotional time. This may play a part in why Ashley then switched to formula feeding. She said that giving the baby formula took the stress and pressure off of her when it came to feeding her baby.

This choice is one that a lot of moms make, but it is not always an easy one. If they are going to look to Ashley for advice and guidance, Ashley stated that she had to think that the main priority was her baby and if the baby was not having a good experience, then what mom, or other moms, think is not important.

Ashley also had a message for other moms; she wishes that someone had warned her how difficult breastfeeding can be. This may hint at another issue with society, and that breastfeeding is also painted in this glorious light, and since it is deemed “natural,” it paints the illusion that it is easy. Perhaps more moms, like Ashley, need to open up about how hard it can be.
