Four-month-old Liberty Jaine Wexler may be small, but she's already made a big splash on social media - with newspaper outlets and even daytime television shows following suit, demanding a glimpse of the tiny tot. Thanks to mom Jenelle and her creative costume designs, Liberty has been making headlines across the globe, showing off some pretty elaborate outfits as she portrays some of history's most notable women.
It all started when Jenelle noticed that Liberty shared a likeness with Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
“I began thinking of influential women who should be celebrated,” she said. “I first came up with the idea to shoot Liberty as Frida Kahlo as I thought the two had similar physical features."
Things just sort of snowballed from there. Using only her iPhone, thrift store threads, a sewing machine and a creative knack for impeccably styling a baby to resemble some of history's most remarkable women, Jenelle has captured the likeness via her daughter of over 30 unique women throughout history. From legendary ruler Cleopatra to style icon Coco Chanel, to a handful of modern-day women who have already made their mark in history - such as Hilary Clinton and Malala Yousafzai - little Liberty's dress-up routine has unsurprisingly caught the eye of outlets from all across North America, the UK, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Serbia, Poland, and Bosnia.
It isn't just about posting colourful and cute photos, however. Jenelle has also taken this opportunity to share the incredible accomplishments of the all the women Liberty has represented who have left an indelible mark on the world. Her hope is that one day, her daughter can look back on these photographs with wonder, and most importantly a desire to learn about all of the amazing achievements these women fought for throughout history.
"There are so many empowering women who need to be celebrated and have their stories told," she said. “I just want to shine a light with Liberty’s help on people we should truly respect in our society.”
So far, the Illinois mom-of-two and her mini model have no plans to slow down. With nearly 4,000 followers on Instagram since she created the account back in June, Jenelle and her family have already been featured on Inside Edition, Good Morning America, People Magazine and The Huffington Post.
"I plan to continue these amazing and empowering images of women," she said. "They should and need to be held up as the standard for future generations to aspire to be like.”
