It’s evident that Baby Sussex is already growing hope and wonder on a global level- and they haven't even entered the world yet! So much so that a social media campaign has been created in honor of the royal baby, spawning from charities advocated by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
With a profusion of abusive comments having been directed at Markle on social media since she became Duchess, this loyal gesture engendered by adoring fans is both earnest and relevant. The principal concept is as such: using #GlobalBabySussexShower, fans and well-wishers alike can make a donation to charity in the name of the next little royal.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie disclosed that various charities which Markle is identified with have been receiving donations in honour of Meghan and Harry's baby. Scobie tweeted, "Proof that social media can be a positive place. Charities including @themayhew @Camfed and @WellChild have been receiving donations from Duchess Meghan fans around the world who started the hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower to celebrate Baby Sussex’s impending arrival. Very cool."
Although Markle has been very candid about her views regarding social media- largely making efforts to avoid the very overt platform- perhaps this global grand gesture may abate her inferior perception.
In March 2019, Meghan took part in a panel for International Women's Day at King's College London, according to ITV News. She explained that she makes a conscious effort to abstain from social media. "I don't read anything, it's much safer that way, but equally that's just my own personal preference, because I think positive or negative, it can all sort of just feel like noise to a certain extent these days." The donations made in honour of #GlobalSussexBabyShower will be a genuine reveal of Markle's supporters.
While most of the world may not have been privy to her swanky New York City baby shower this hashtag, fabulous cause may just be as opulent a gesture minus the extravagance.
