‘The Bachelor’ Star Bekah Martinez Says She’ll Breastfeed Her 9-Month Old For As Long As She Can

Bekah Martinez, 24, feels proud about breastfeeding and shares having no plans of stopping it any time soon.

The Bachelor star, Bekah Martinez, posted a sweet picture on her Instagram account, breastfeeding her 9-month old daughter, Ruth. In the post, she parted her views on breastfeeding, saying that she doesn’t want to put a limit on her breastfeeding episode. She mentioned that she has gone through the age-old question many times now – “I get the question often: ‘How long are you going to breast-feed for?'" She went on to explain that the longevity of breastfeeding her daughter would solely depend upon the mother-daughter’s wish. "As long as I can and both of us want to. There's nothing f–king weird about a 2-year-old still nursing. It's bonding time, soothing time and boosts the immune system.it's only weird if you've still got it in your head that breasts are inherently sexual, even between mother and child, and if that's the case, who's the weird one?" questioned the Bachelor alum.

The young star is about to complete her art degree at the University of California Irvine and describes her school-feed balance. She revealed that she tries to feed as many times as possible when not in school to ensure high supply. “Having baby empty your breasts as much as possible (yes empty!!) sends the signal to your body to produce more milk. … Furthermore, I don’t pump unless I’m at school. I supplement with formula on these days so I don’t put pressure on myself to produce enough milk for when I’m gone. For me, more stress = less milk.”, she explained.

Ruth had made it very difficult for her mom, when the latter started college again, by not drinking from the bottle but eventually gave in. The little angel almost went on a “strike and had only 4 ounces of milk” in the first few days. The reality star further revealed that her daughter is in a low weight percentile, and it is one of the primary reasons that she has not added bottle-feedings in her night routine. She makes sure that she is available throughout the night without fail. She further described that her 9-month-old has started taking solids once in a while, like avocado and sprouted bread to beans and goat cheese.

Martinez and Grayston Leonard, the rock climbing gym owner, 31 welcomed their daughter in February this year. The Bachelor alum opened up about her family planning recently and mentioned that she would like to have a large family with at least five to six kids in the future. As of now, the couple wants to enjoy parenthood and roam about freely with Ruth. We wish them all the happiness and encourage parents to understand the extreme importance of breastfeeding and how it gives a healthy life to both the child and the mother.
