Vanessa Lachey is an actress, beauty queen, television personality, fashion model, yet her favorite role is mommy. Vanessa mothers three children, Camden, 8, Brooklyn, 5, and Phoenix, 3, whom she shares with hubby Nick Lachey. She speaks candidly on motherhood and why it's a "beautiful mess" and provides her best advice on raising kids, on family life, and on love.  Read on for Vanessa's more inspiring parenting quotes!

Vanessa's Favorite Role is 'Mommy'

Vanessa knows being a mom is hard work with no pay and no true way to prepare, and despite her many achievements in television and being named Miss. Teen USA in 1998, her most rewarding and fulfilling role is mommy to her three young children. She is hands-on from nursing and changing diapers to cooking and laundry, and her love for them is as clear as the smile that graces her face in nearly every photo with her three littles.

My favorite role is mommy. I know that sounds cheesy to people who don't have kids, or there are even some moms who think it's cheesy. It's a role you can't prepare for; it's a role you don't get paid to do, but it is the most rewarding role, and to me, it's been the most fulfilling.

It's All About Having Fun, Vanessa Says

Vanessa is all about having fun and creating special moments with her children, including everyday mom moments like swimming and eating Popsicles together. She treasures her time with her kids (and of course, hubby Nick) and teaching her children the importance of family togetherness and to value the special bond they all share.

What I love about Popsicle and the moments I can be with Camden is that their whole philosophy is family and these moments that it can create to just sit with my son, read a comic book or go outside on a hot day, take a swim and have a Popsicle treat with him.

Vanessa Knows That Failure Is Part of Life

Vanessa knows that no mom is perfect and that trying to be the perfect parent is simply not possible. She also knows that there is more than one way of doing things and just because someone does something different, doesn't mean that it's wrong. Vanessa also realizes that while failure is a part of life, it's a learning experience too.

Failure is life, but it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.

Food Is Her Love Language

Vanessa loves to cook (and eat!) and strives to include her children in the cooking process so they learn not only the importance of good nutrition but a new skill, too! She enjoys making memories and messes with them, and for her, the kitchen is the perfect room in her home to combine love and food.

We’re cooking in the kitchen, making a huge mess, tons of mistakes, but more importantly, memories that I hope we will cherish. I know it seems daunting or exhausting, but try and include your kiddos in your cooking process... it may surprise you.

Vanessa Is Learning On Her Own

Vanessa is estranged from her mother and has not seen her since she was nine-years-old. She publicly admitted to having Baby Blues after the birth of her oldest son, Camden in which she felt anxious for not knowing what to do and fear that she would mess up her son. Look at her now! She has excelled and learned on her own, along with Nick, and grown into one of the happiest and knowledgeable moms out there!

I didn't grow up with a mother, so I don't have that resource to rely on and ask a million questions.

Routines Make Life Easier, Vanessa Says

Vanessa knows the value of routine especially now that two of her kids are school-age. Having a daily schedule and routine makes life simpler and tasks and chores can be much better managed. Children are also known to like the structure of a routine so they know what to expect and can be prepared for each of their daily activities, from breakfast to bedtime!

If you establish a routine for your child, then your routine can be more manageable.

For Vanessa, Family Comes First

With Vanessa, her family (including her close girlfriends) is always her top priority. She never wavers on this, so everything else is further down on her list. This makes Vanessa's life easier since she never has to question what comes first.

Without a doubt, priority No. 1 is always my family. Whether it's my children or my husband or even my girlfriends who are also my family, I put them first no matter what. And it makes it easy to then juggle everything else because it's never a question.

All Moms Are Superheroes According To Vanessa

Vanessa celebrates mothers worldwide and feels that all moms are superheroes because she knows first-hand the amount of work it takes to be a good mom. She is supportive of outreach and being an advocate to help moms know they are valued and appreciated for the monumental job of raising tiny humans.

I feel like the word 'mom' and 'supermom' should be synonymous. When you are a mom, you are a superhero.

The Differences In Raising One Child Vs. Two (Or More)

Vanessa acknowledges the many differences between having one child compared to two or more. Like all moms, she knows that her schedule revolves around their schedule, so if one child is napping and the other one is wide awake, mom is staying up. She knows the chaos of multiple children but can take time to appreciate those rare calm moments, too!

It's funny because everyone says you sleep when baby sleeps or you take a nap when baby takes a nap. That's true when you have one. When you have two, that is not true.

Vanessa Lachey is a down-to-earth celebrity mom who tells it like it is while advocating for moms by sharing her advice and knowledge. We applaud her candor to share her personal life, as well as her life with her three beautiful children.
