While Gossip Girl may have been off the air since 2012, the show left an impression with many during the five years it was on. And with many of the stars of the show going on to new projects after the series ended, the cast has not faded from public view.

Since the series finale, (and during the show for a few) some of the cast started families of their own. Just like the unique names the cast had in the show, the actors too have given their children names that are not heard every day.

While Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester have yet to share the names of their recently born children, and Jessica Szhor just announced her pregnancy, there are plenty of other names the rest of the cast has shared that might just inspire you to name your little one in the spirit of Serena van der Woodson or Dan Humphrey.

James

The first daughter born to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds was little James. The couple decided to forego traditionally female names and chose one that has morphed from being a male name to that of a unisex one.

Meaning, "supplanter," according to BabyNames.com, James is a traditional Hebrew name. And for those who are looking into names that will work for both a little boy or girl, James might just be a good option to choose.

Inez

Baby Inez was the second daughter born to Blake and Ryan. The two made a 180-degree turn from choosing a unisex name and instead chose a very traditional one with Inez.

According to Think Baby Names, Inez means, "pure." The name is of Latin origin and is not one that is used with much frequency these days, making it so that a little one with this name is not likely to share her name with any future classmates.

Betty

And just to keep things interesting, Blake and Ryan chose a very traditional, throw-back name for their third daughter, Betty. Not only that, but they came up with a very unique way of announcing the name to their fans by having friend, Taylor Swift, use their children's names in her song, Betty.

Meaning, "oath of God" or "God is satisfaction," according to SheKnows, the name Betty was extremely popular in the late 1920s to mid-1930s. While the name has gained some popularity over the years, those who choose to name their daughter Betty will be hard-pressed to find any other little ones in their social circle with this name.

Arlo

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody welcomed their second child last month, making their daughter, Arlo, an older sister. Being a couple who likes to keep their private life private, they have yet to share the details of their son's name. But, given the uniqueness of the name, Arlo, fans can only guess that his name is uncommon as well.

A traditionally male name, Arlo means, "barberry tree" according to Think Baby Names. Over the past handful of years, the name has become increasingly popular among males. However, it was all but non-existent before then, meaning that those who carry this name have no baggage attached to it and are free to make a name for themselves in their own right.

Hermes

Traditionally a boy's name, Hermes is the son of Zeus in mythology and the Olympian deity. Meaning, "messenger of God," according to nameberry, Hermes is also the protector of orators, thieves, travelers, and more.

Kelly Rutherford and ex-husband, Daniel Giersch, chose this heavenly name for their son. Between being named after a Greek god and an upscale fashion house, Hermes has quite a bit to live up to carrying a name like this.

Helena

Wanting to keep with the Greek mythology theme, Kelly and Daniel chose the name Helena for their daughter. A variant on Helen, as in Helen of Troy, this goddess was said to be the most beautiful woman the world had ever seen.

Meaning, "bright, shining light," according to nameberry, those with this name are likely to draw others to them, much like a beacon in a storm. Therefore, if looking for a name for a little girl who is sure to be loved by all, Helena might be just the right fit.

Delta

While she was not seen on the show, Kristen Bell was the voice behind the narration on Gossip Girl. And much like her on-screen castmates, she and husband, Dax Shepard, went for names that were anything but common for their children.

The meaning of Delta is, "mouth of a river," according to BabyNames.com. It is of Greek origin and is a name traditionally chosen for females.

One very well known Delta, Delta Burke, was best known for her role on Designing Women in the 1980s. She is also an author and designer.

Lincoln

Kristen and Dax must love bodies of water, as their second daughter was also named after one.

Meaning, "lake colony," according to Think Baby Names, Lincoln is a name most often chosen for males. It is also one of the more common names on the list, having been the fortieth most popular name in 2018.

Aven

For parents who are of Irish background, Aven might be a nice choice for a baby girl.

Matthew Settle and ex-wife, Naama Nativ, chose the name Aven for their daughter. Meaning, "fair radiance," according to BabyNames.com, any little one carrying this moniker is sure to be a stunner in the looks department.

Nalu

Matthew went on to have another daughter with his girlfriend, Maria Alforsin. The name they chose is of Hawaiian descent, and as such, those who can trace their lineage to the islands might find this name intriguing.

According to babycenter, Nalu means, "wave." It is traditionally a male name. But, given the fact that the rest of the cast liked to take male names and turn them on their heads by giving them to their daughters, it comes as no surprise that Matthew would do the same for his little one.
