When it comes to resourcefulness, moms are second to none. Got a half-finished bag of chips? Clip it, it'll keep for later. No baby wipes? There's always spit and tissue. There's no one more practical and prepared than mom. Breastfeeding is no different. To some moms who are feeding their child straight from the source, there can be times when it's essential to pump and dump, or there's just too much to be used in the traditional way. While most mamas just pour it away down the sink, others are choosing to waste not, want not by making their very own breastmilk soap.

We all know that breastmilk is full of nutrients and goodness, so it shouldn't be a shock that some crafty moms have repurposed it in this way - but we'd still love to know who thought of it first. The Snap Mom has a good recipe for creating breastmilk soap that's more bath-bomb like, leaving out the lye. According to one soap maker, the concoction is great for the entire family, leaving them all silky-soft afterward. It might sound a little out there, but Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey, so why not make yourself a product fit for a queen and mix in some nectar and essential oils?

Not sold on breastmilk soap? You're not the only one. Some commenters on The Soap Making Forum questioned the legality of breastmilk soap, as Canada forbids the sale of it, but as long as you're making it for personal use then it's A-okay. Others were a little less convinced about it on the whole, questioning if it was really hygienic or not.
