Due to hectic schedules, public appearances, and attending events where children are frowned upon, celebrities by and large choose to find a trusted nanny or two to help them out with the raising of their children. The nanny is with the children so often that she becomes part of the family.
Part of a growing trend in Hollywood though is to raise children without a nanny. Celebrities like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, and Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have found a way to be able to handle their professional responsibilities while still taking care of children without professional help. Another couple that can now be added to that list is Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden.
Late last year, the couple welcomed their daughter Raddix to the world. The duo made an announcement of the birth on January 3 via Instagram. With that announcement, Madden and Diaz stated that in order to keep their "little one's privacy" they would not be sharing any photos or further information about her. With Diaz, 47, and Madden, 40, being so private in their own lives, it comes as no surprise that they want to be the ones raising Raddix and not a third party.
According to a source that spoke with People Magazine, Diaz "wants to spend every second with the baby." This could be because of the fact that the new mother and Madden have been trying for quite some time to have a family. Now that that dream has come to fruition, it is no wonder that Diaz wants to soak up all the time possible that she can with her infant.
What came as a surprise to many is that there were no reports of a family being in the works and that prior to the January 3 announcement, no one was the wiser that there was an addition to the Madden family. The private couple reportedly has "extremely loyal friends" so it comes as no surprise to those close to them that the secret of Raddix being born was kept until Diaz and Madden felt comfortable sharing their joyous news.
Diaz had stated in the past that she did not feel the maternal instinct and potentially would not have children. Those sentiments changed when she met her future husband. Madden and Diaz have been married since 2014.
