Becoming a grandparent is one of the biggest joys there is. A grandparent gets to love a little one like he or she was their own. A grandparent gets to relive all of the fun of being a parent without having to impose rules that were necessary as a parent. And of course, a grandparent gets to spoil their grandchild in a way that the child's parents are not able to. If a child is lucky enough to know their grandparents, it is one of the most special relationships that that child will ever have.

Sometimes, when an adult becomes a certain age, their parents begin to get antsy as to whether he or she will ever have children and make his or her parents, grandparents. If those parents are smart, they will not ask when they will become grandparents. They instead will plant the seed for their child to begin to mull over when the time might be right to bring a baby into the world.

For Candice Bergen, this technique worked, as by not badgering her daughter as to when she might have a grandson or granddaughter, she was finally blessed with a grandbaby on May 19.

Bergen's daughter, Chloe Malle, married Graham Albert in July 2015. Since that time, the Murphy Brown alum had been biding her time when it came to becoming a grandmother. The years passed by and the couple still had not shared any plans to start a family. That was when Bergen took matters into her own hands and in the past few years, started to make discreet comments about adding a little one to the mix.

When Bergen found out late last year that she was going to be a grandmother she said she was "over-the-moon excited" for the little one to join the family.

That day finally came a few weeks ago when Arthur Louis Albert was born.

According to the actress, Malle had a very easy pregnancy that was not riddled with any problems whatsoever. However, like most mothers-to-be, towards the end of the pregnancy, she was ready to be done being pregnant.

Since his birth, both Malle and her husband have been sharing various pictures of Albert. The little one looks extremely curious when looking at the world around him, which as of right now, is the confines of his New York apartment. This is because it has still not been deemed safe for infants to go out and about as a result of the coronavirus. This has not stopped Albert from making new friends though, as can be seen in an adorable photo of Albert meeting the family dog, Lloyd.

In a year that has been filled with chaos and craziness thus far, for Bergen, 2020 will always be known as the year when she became a grandmother.
