Cardi B has given birth to her first child with fellow rapper Offset.
It’s a girl! Born on Tuesday, July 10th, Cardi B delivered Kulture Kiari Cephus. Both she and her husband Offset (of Migos) confirmed the news on their Instagram accounts by posting risque, Beyoncé-esque selfies of a very pregnant Cardi B just a few hours ago.
It’s been a wild ride with Cardi B’s pregnancy, which was only confirmed back in April on the set of Saturday Night Live. During her second song, the camera panned from Cardi’s face and slowly pulled back as she sang, revealing her baby bump to millions of viewers.
We knew she’d been dating Offset since 2016, which by all accounts was a somewhat tumultuous relationship. She and Offset got married in secret last September, which Cardi revealed in a Twitter post in June.
In her own words, the pair just "woke up [one day] and decided to get married". The ceremony, if you could even call it that, was just herself, Offset, and her cousin to bear witness. There was no dress, no ring, and she didn’t even put on makeup.
Cardi then added her signature snark to say that she only posted her wedding story to shut down rumors that she’d had a baby outside of wedlock. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
We found out that Cardi was having a girl last May when she went on the Howard Stern Show. She also revealed the baby’s name: she’d take her husband’s first name as the baby's middle name (Kiari) and also take her husband’s last name. The newborn's first name is a collaboration between husband and wife that we may never quite understand.
In other Cardi news, she’s become the first female rapper in history to have two No. 1 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart thanks to the recent release of “I Like It.”
A baby and making history all in one month? That’s a cause for celebration.
We would like to wish Cardi B and Offset a huge congratulations and send them the best of luck in raising little baby Kulture.
