Cardi B is determined to make her marriage to rapper Offset work for the sake of their 17-month old daughter, Kulture Kiari.

Cardi recently posed on the cover of Vogue with her only child, Kulture. During the interview portion, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ singer opened up about her infamous relationship with the Migos rapper. The couple briefly separated last year amid reports of Offset’s infidelities but reconciled after a few months. Now, Cardi is opening up about the decision that left her fans divided.

“Everybody has issues,” Cardi explained. “I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world.”

She further opened up about their relationship. “He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you’re betraying the person that has your back the most,” Cardi explained. “Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your ass if you cheat on me.” The mother-of-one admits she wasn’t prepared for the backlash she received from the public when she and Offset got back together. But she has no regrets over her decision.

“When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” she said. “But it’s real-life s—. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down.”

Later in the interview portion, Cardi made it clear that her young daughter factored into her decision to give their relationship another chance. “Being a mom—how can I say it? Things are a little bit harder to balance, but it’s good for the mental,” she told Vogue. “Like, if I’m playing with my daughter, I forget about the issues.”
