Singer/rapper Cardi B is opening up about a little talked about pregnancy symptom: vivid dreams. Pregnancy is notorious for creating bad sleep for expectant mothers, but many also experience strange dreams. These dreams are often remembered, feel very real, and can last for a long time. They can be happy dreams, scandalous dreams, or resemble nightmares.

She certainly isn't alone. Vivid dreams in pregnancy are fairly common. There are a ton of weird things happening to your body when you're pregnant so why wouldn't your sub-conscience be affected too?

She took to her Twitter page to say...

Self.com decided to look into this odd symptom and give us some answers! They approached Tamar Gur, M.D., Ph.D., a women's health expert and reproductive psychiatrist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She called these pregnancy dreams "a commonly observed phenomenon," but apparently researchers don't have a clear idea as to why they occur.

However, every theory revolves around the increase of both progesterone and estrogen in the body. These body chemicals can affect your REM sleep AKA the deep sleep where dreaming happens. All of these hormonal fluctuations can be thanked for less sleep, deeper sleep, and an increase in stress levels that can also affect dreams. So, basically, what Cardi is experiencing is normal, and is caused by the increase of hormones. Oh, the joys of pregnancy!

Cardi B revealed her pregnancy during her Saturday Night Live performance on April 7th. She made the big reveal after months of speculation that she was expecting. During the performance of her second song of the night, Be Careful, the camera panned out showing off her baby bump. She revealed this pregnancy on her own terms and waited until she was ready. The father is her fiancé, Offset, of the group Migos.

We hope that the only troublesome pregnancy symptom Cardi B is experiencing is vivid dreams. With all the junk you have to put up with, some crazy dreams during pregnancy can't be the worst thing, right?
