While once a taboo subject that was kept hush, hush, the topic of women freezing their eggs is becoming more normalized these days. With more and more celebrities coming out stating that they have decided to freeze their eggs either because of a result of their career, not finding the right person, or infertility issues, seeing that a high profile woman is willing to be honest about her pregnancy journey makes the everyday Jane feel more comfortable about deciding to freeze her own.

Over the past decade, many celebrities have not only admitted but documented on social media or reality television, their journeys to having their eggs frozen. When or if most of these ladies choose to use their eggs is unknown, but they have them as an insurance policy, should they choose to go ahead and try to implant their eggs at a time in the future.

Here are some of the most well-known celebrities to have admitted to freezing their eggs over the past handful of years.

Julianne Hough

In May, Julianne Hough shared with Women's Health that she was diagnosed with endometriosis over a decade ago. When she and husband, Brooks Laich, got married in 2017, the couple discussed if they wanted a family and what their options were for making that happen since endometriosis can cause fertility issues.

While Hough and Laich have not made any attempts to have children, they wanted to make sure that the option was there, should there be problems with trying to conceive. As such, the decision was made to freeze the dancer's eggs for a time when they decided that it was right to start a family. And while it initially seemed like the egg retrieval and freezing were all for not when the couple separated, now that the two are allegedly reconciling, a baby may be on the horizon for the couple yet.

Amy Schumer

In January, Amy Schumer opened up on Instagram that she and husband, Chris Fischer, were ready to begin the process of giving their son, Gene, a sibling. As such, because of infertility issues, Schumer began the process of egg retrieval and freezing of her eggs.

Schumer suffers from endometriosis, which can lead to fertility issues. However, Schumer has never revealed whether she conceived Gene naturally or not. Compounding her endometriosis with the fact that she suffered hyperemesis gravidarum throughout the entirety of her pregnancy, Schumer has said that she can "never be pregnant again," according to People. As such, when she and Fischer decide to move forward with expanding their family, they will potentially be looking for a surrogate to carry their baby.

Rebel Wilson

Not knowing what the future held for her, Rebel Wilson decided to freeze her eggs in 2019 so that she would have a "backup plan," according to Hello!

Wilson visited the Kyle and Jackie O radio show to discuss the fact that she had frozen her eggs. She said that a number of her friends had done it and that with women having careers these days that they did not want to interrupt by starting a family, having "options" to have a baby into one's forties took that pressure off.

At that time, Wilson was not romantically linked to Jacob Busch. What their future holds is unknown. However, if the actress wants to hold off on having babies for a few years, she has a contingency plan in place, should she not be able to conceive naturally.

Kim Kardashian West

In 2012, Kim Kardashian West decided to freeze her eggs. She had ended her marriage with Kris Humphries and was newly dating Kanye West. Not knowing where her future was going, and the fact that it was discovered that sister, Khloe Kardashian, was not ovulating properly, the reality star decided to take matters into her own hands, and move forward with freezing her eggs, according to Conceive Easy.

While those eggs were not needed when it came time to conceive naturally with Kardashian West's first two children, because of difficult pregnancies, they were subsequently used for the surrogates that carried hers and West's third and fourth babies.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton revealed in August to The Sunday Times that her long-time friend, Kim Kardashian West had "inspired her" to freeze her eggs. Kardashian West even went so far as to introduce Hilton to the doctor that she used for her egg retrieval and freezing and after a conversation with him, it was a done deal. As such, Hilton decided to freeze her eggs a few years ago.

Telling The Sunday Times that "every woman should do it" so that they can have "control" over their future, Hilton no longer feels the pressure to get married just so that she can have a baby. She did confess that she is looking forward to the day that she becomes a mom, however.

The hotel heiress told the publication that she wants to have a girl first because she is "obsessed with dressing them up," but that twins might be a good option as well. And now that she has finally found her "perfect match" in boyfriend, Carter Reum, the day of becoming a mother might just be in the near future.

Khloe Kardashian

During an April episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe Kardashian revealed to her mom, Kris Jenner, that she had decided to freeze her eggs, according to E!.

Though the reality star has always maintained that if she only had True she would feel blessed, when she had a conversation with best friend Malika Haqq, Haqq's words hit home.

Saying that she knew deep down that Kardashian would love to give True a sibling and that the Good American clothing line co-founder would have to think long and hard about leaving True without someone to rely on, made Kardashian take a step back and see that she needed to plan for the future. As such, she started the process of freezing her eggs should she decide to move forward with having another child in the future.
