No matter how it is done, giving birth is one of the most beautiful and amazing things a human being can do. These days, many women are choosing not to have any medication during birth, which is called an “unmedicated birth.”

Some people believe that is the same thing as a natural birth, but it is not. Pretty much all births are considered natural, even if they do involve the use of pain medication. While many famous moms have chosen to have pain medication when they were giving birth, there are actually a lot of them who have gone the unmedicated route. 10 Jessica Alba

Actress Jessica Alba is one tough cookie, that’s for sure. So far, she has given birth to three children, and she brought at least one of them into this world with absolutely no help from pain medication.

Though, apparently, there were some things that did make the experience easier. The actress has claimed that meditation, as well as yoga, helped her get through it without asking for pain medicine. There are lots of ways that prenatal yoga can help make childbirth seem easier. For example, women who practice it are more relaxed when it is time to have their babies.

9 Mila Kunis

There are a lot of women who have decided to have unmedicated births after watching a documentary or two, and, apparently, actress Mila Kunis is one of them. The actress and her husband, actor Ashton Kutcher, decided to see what unmedicated births were all about before she gave birth to their first child. The famous couple named their baby Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher. The pair also have another child together, and his name is Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.

Even though Wyatt is not very old, she seems to be very smart. Kutcher has said that their oldest child can actually speak and understand three different languages.

8 Beyoncé

The whole world seemed to be watching singer Beyoncé when she was pregnant with her first child, Blue Ivy Carter. That, of course, continued right up until the star gave birth.

The little one’s birth caused quite the stir in many ways. There were some rumors that Beyoncé and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, welcomed little Blue into the world by having a scheduled c-section, but that does not seem to be true.

In fact, the couple actually did not even have a c-section at all. Blue was born the old-fashioned way, and her mom did not even have any pain medication to make the process easier.

7 Gisele Bündchen

Women everywhere have envied model Gisele Bündchen for years, and that only became even truer when she welcomed her first child into the world with no help from pain medication at all. But, the model, who is now a mother of two, has some very controversial views on the topic of childbirth.

Bündchen found herself in a bit of hot water with moms around the world when she made some claims that hospital births were harmful. When she had her oldest child, the model chose to do so in her own home, which is fine. But some women were not happy about what she said.

When actress Idina Menzel gave birth to her son, she needed no assistance as far as pain medication goes. The actress, who was married to actor Taye Diggs at the time, simply needed him at her side to make the experience even more awesome.

Diggs has referred to Menzel as a “warrior” after she underwent an unmedicated birth, and honestly, we could not agree with him more. During the birth, Diggs held her hand and cheered for her.

Diggs was very proud when the baby came out. The famous couple ended up naming their new baby boy Walker Nathaniel Diggs.

Model Miranda Kerr seems to be pretty much perfect in every way, but even she had to admit that having a baby with no medication is very painful. Having children is magical, but there are not many people who believe it is easy or painless. The experience was very hard on Kerr. But she knew that she had the strength to do it, and so she did. The human body is capable of some pretty amazing things, and the fact that the model gave birth to a rather large baby without pain medication of any kind.

4 Alyson Hannigan

Actress Alyson kept things fairly simple when she gave birth to the two children she shares with her husband, actor Alexis Denisof. With both children, she chose to have an unmedicated birth at her home.

The actress claimed that the reason she wanted to do that is because she is not a fan of hospitals. Hannigan did not want her daughter’s births to take place in a location that she was uncomfortable with, so she chose to have her babies at home.

Hannigan’s doctor and midwife were present at the first birth. During the second one, Hannigan gave her oldest daughter the chance to witness the event.

3 Kim Kardashian

These days, Kim Kardashian is the mother to four beautiful children, but the delivery of her second child was no walk in the park for this famous mom.

She chose not to have any medicine involved, despite the fact that her birth was probably a bit more difficult than some other births. The television personality had a hard time giving birth the second time around because she suffered from something called “placenta accreta.”

This condition occurs when a placenta grows too deeply into a pregnant mother’s uterus. Despite any issues this may have caused, Kardashian was a trooper and still went with an unmedicated birth.

2 Erykah Badu

Singer Erykah Badu is a mother of three, and she is a big fan of having her kids at home. Badu had a completely unmedicated birth when she had her little girl, Mars Merkaba Thedford.

The singer has been very vocal about her birth preferences. When she was going into labor, the singer and the baby’s father, Jay Electronica, kept everyone updated on the progress of the birth through their social media pages, and that is where they stated that there would be absolutely no medicinal pain relief involved. Electronica was very involved. He rubbed Badu’s feet and updated others between her contractions.

1 Ricki Lake

Actress and television personality Ricki Lake has been extremely open about how she feels when it comes to medicated and unmedicated births. After having experienced it herself, Lake is a huge fan of saying no to pain medicine when a baby is being born.

When Lake gave birth to her first child, she did it in a hospital, and some medication was used in order to speed up the labor process. A few years later, Lake was pregnant again. Instead of heading to the hospital this time, Lake chose to stay at home and have a water birth. It was very hard, but Lake was able to do it.
