In the letter, she wrote a heartwarming declaration revealing she has found even greater respect for mothers and the motherhood journey. She also disclosed some of her concerns about being pregnant during a global pandemic as well as being an older first-time mom. She also stated that she hopes to be an inspiration for women who still desire to be a mother despite their age.

"I’m down to the last two weeks of my pregnancy and just took a photo of myself in front of my home. After becoming pregnant at an older age and making careful preparations due to COVID-19, I feel a great level of respect for Korean mothers," she wrote. "I hope that other expecting mums who are also preparing to give birth can draw inspiration from me, the 'icon' of late pregnancy." Ji-woo continued, "I hope that there will be better news to come when I check in with you guys again after I give birth."

Choi, known for her many television performances in TV series including Stairway To Heaven (2003) and Temptation (2014), surprised her fans back in March 2018 when she publicly announced that she had married her boyfriend. Her now-husband is nine years younger than her and is the owner of an information tech firm. Rumours speculate that the tech firm is funded by Choi. Her agency did not respond to fans or media about if and when Choi would return to acting. Up until her birth, she was still active and earlier this year she made a cameo on Crash Landing On You.  Choi played herself and in the series, she met a North Korean fan.

Choi is not alone with having a baby later in life. There is another South Korean actress to give birth after turning 40. Actress Lee Young-ae gave birth to a set of twins when she was 40 in 2011, and actress Ham So-won had a girl at the age of 42 in 2018.
