While a lot of people like to use a lot of different methods to get pregnant, television personality Christina Anstead says that acupuncture is what helped her get pregnant a third time around. As a matter of fact, the HGTV star says that she thought PCOS would prevent her from having another baby, but that wasn’t the case at all.
Christina Anstead and her husband Ant Anstead are expecting their first child together, although this is the third one for the blonde beauty. She has two children with her ex-husband and her Flip or Flop co-star Tarek El Moussa. Christina says that after she and Tarek struggled to get pregnant the second time around, she thought that she’s never become a mother again. That’s why she decided to give acupuncture a try.
The celebrity mother, who is also a stepmom to Ant’s two children, says that one of the reasons why she struggled to conceive was because of all the day-to-day stress that she had to deal with as a working mom. Between her HGTV filming obligations and raising a family at home, she had a hard time focusing and even relaxing and that might have been one of the reasons why she couldn’t get pregnant.
Christina told People Magazine in a recent interview, “I explained to the woman that I had polycystic ovaries. She told me, 'Oh, I used to have that too. I think I can [help].”
And while Christina admits that even though acupuncture helped her conceive, it’s a method that might not help other women out there. The American Pregnancy Association though has stated that acupuncture does have a positive effect on some women that deal with infertility issues. The site says that acupuncture, if frequently combined with herbal medicine, “has been used for centuries to treat some, but not all, causes of infertility."
Christina also admitted that she has been doing things a little differently the third time around. With her first two pregnancies, she would work non-stop and sometimes long hours without taking a break. This time around, she is putting her health as a priority. As a result, she’s taking things a little slower and focusing on what really matters: her future baby and of course, her family.
Christina also says that she plans on taking more time off during her maternity leave. Her husband Ant will also be very hands-on with the third baby. Describing their new laid back approach to parenting, Christina says that they will spend more time with the kids and will do all of the things that come with taking care of a newborn at home, like diaper duty and nighttime feedings.
