Pregnant Claire Holt revealed that she suffered postpartum anxiety and depression after giving birth to her first child, one-year-old son James. The 32-year-old Vampire Diaries star who is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Andrew Joblon revealed that breastfeeding her son was hard, as he was allergic to cow's milk although he is okay now. She says that the young boy could not sleep much, and this made her overwhelmed. Claire says that although motherhood was the best thing that ever happened to her, she admits that it can also be challenging as well as self-isolating and scary sometimes.

Although the Australian actress had friends with babies who would offer her advice about child care, she did not want to bother them at night. Therefore, she would resort to Google to search for information at night.  However, she later discovered the Peanut app, a Pregnancy and Motherhood platform where women trying to conceive, moms-to-be, and moms meet to share their experiences and ideas. Claire revealed that after giving birth to her son, she longed for some connection, and she felt isolated and afraid. She feels that if she had found the Peanut app while pregnant with James, her transition would have been a lot easier.

According to her Instagram post, Claire admits that the Peanut app has been of great help to her, especially during her second pregnancy. She encourages all mothers to join the pregnancy and motherhood group on the Peanut app so that they can share their parenting experiences as well as the problems they go through, and they can get the much-needed support. Claire and her husband Joblon announce on April 3 that they were expecting their second child. Claire announced the big news with a family photo that featured her showing off her grown baby bump. She captioned the post saying that they were grateful for their little ray of sunshine during the uncertain time, and she concluded the caption with a red heart emoticon.

Claire suffered a miscarriage in February 2018, and she shared the sad news on her Instagram account. In October of the same year, Claire shared on her Instagram that she was expecting again. She shared a photo of her and Jablon with their dog. From the couple's photo, Claire's growing baby bump could be seen, and she captioned the post saying that her heart was bursting with happiness. She said that they were happy to announce that they were having a baby after their painful loss earlier that year.
