Couple Arrested On Suspicion Of Murdering 8-Week-Old Baby

As parents, we're supposed to love and care for our children. After all, they're vulnerable to all the dangers that life holds- from the obviously dangerous to the seemingly innocent. This is especially true when they're infants because there's nothing they can do to stay safe. They have to have complete faith in mom and dad to keep them away from any and all dangerous situations. But if the parents aren't doing that- or are the source of a dangerous situation- then that child is in trouble.

In South London, England, a young couple has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm for the death of their eight-week-old baby. The death originally took place back on April 26th, 2019, when the infant died at home in the Bermondsey area, located in south-east London. As of now, the child has yet to be identified by the media or by police, and the latter hasn't said whether they previously knew the victim or not.

Initially, the baby's autopsy showed that they had suffered a number of broken bones prior to their death. But by the time the autopsy concluded on May 10th of this year, it received an end result of being inconclusive. It's unknown if the injuries were too severe to determine a cause of death, or if there was another reason for the inconclusive ruling.

The couple arrested have also not been formally identified by neither the police nor the media. What we do know is that the two arrested include a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman. They were arrested and held by Metropolitan Police on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. But after further tests were conducted, Scotland Yard decided to arrest the couple on suspicion of murder.

As of now, the couple has both made bail to a date that's sometime in mid-October. More details have been made public in this murder case, and it appears that the investigation is ongoing at this time. Detective Chief Inspector John Massey has been appointed as the one to lead the investigation from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command.

Until more details come to light, our thoughts go to the anonymous baby who died senselessly, as well as the child's loved ones.
