A dad whose wife has stopped breastfeeding their child took to Reddit to ask whether he is in the wrong for thinking she should have to pay for the formula herself.
Deciding whether to breastfeed your baby or to use formula can be a tricky one to make. That decision is made all the more difficult when some people try to shame moms who choose not to breastfeed. In some cases, mothers physically can't breastfeed. If you do opt to not go with formula, it can then be a tough decision to figure out when to stop breastfeeding your little one.
The decision as to when you should stop breastfeeding, or if you should even do it at all, is ultimately the mom's to make, with help from doctors and other medical professionals should she need it. That's why the internet hasn't taken too kindly to a Reddit post from a dad questioning his wife's decision to stop breastfeeding.
The dad revealed on Reddit that his wife recently decided to stop breastfeeding their child and he has taken umbrage with that decision. "She makes plenty of milk and everything she just says she 'feels done'," he wrote. However, it's not his explanation of the situation that the internet has taken issue with, it's his reaction to it.
Since it was his wife's decision to make the switch from breast milk to formula, he believes she should be the one who has to pay for it. "I think if she wants to stop for basically no reason then the money for formula should come out of her own personal spending money," he went on to write. His wife understandably thinks the money for the formula should come out of what is put aside for groceries.
As you can imagine, support for the father's point of view has been slim to none online. So much so that he has since removed the post from Reddit. Sadly for him, plenty of shocked and appalled people took screenshots of the post before it was taken down. You can take a look at it for yourselves above. Hopefully, the backlash he received online has made the dad come to his senses.
