The Orange is the Next Black family might be getting a bit bigger this year! One of OITNB’s main stars Danielle Brooks recently revealed she’s expecting her first child.
The 29-year old actress announced her good news over Instagram with an excited post. “So, elated to finally share this news with you all,” she wrote on Tuesday. “I’m happily pregnant!” Danielle included a photo of herself holding up a Clearblue pregnancy test to confirm the results.
She shared even more details about her surprise pregnancy on her story. The celebrity uploaded a photo of her growing bump, adding the caption “5 months in!” She also wrote, “When one chapter ends, another begins. Super excited to share with you my new beginning. I’M PREGNANT. Counting my blessings.”
Danielle’s reference to a chapter ending likely has to do with the fact that OITNB is airing their seventh and final season on Netflix earlier this month. Filming has already wrapped up on the hit show, so the beloved cast has already started paying tribute to it and saying goodbye via social media. Clearly, Danielle is going to be just as busy in the near future as she becomes a first-time mom.
In terms of her personal life, Danielle has stayed relatively quiet regarding the details. Though she’s hinted at having a significant other, it’s unclear who the actress’ mystery boyfriend is or if he’s even in the entertainment industry. She has shared various photo so of her beau on social media, however, and the couple seem happily in love.
