Eliza Dushku is slaying pregnancy for a second time! The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum revealed that she and her husband Peter Palandjian are expecting a second child together. The couple already share a 1-year-old son, Philip.
The actress shared the exciting news with a slideshow of images posted to Instagram. The first photo showed the 40-year-old in a blue tank top, with her growing baby bump on full display. Eliza stared into the camera and smiled in the casual photo. “Mama x2,” she wrote in the caption, Us Weekly confirms. The expectant star proceeded to tag her husband, adding, “How I love you.”
The second image showed off her toddler in a t-shirt confirming the news. “Can you dig it?” the graphic t-shirt read. “I’m going to be a big brother.” The third and final photo featured a pair of red hibiscus flowers.
Eliza originally shared she was pregnant for the first time in February 2019. According to PEOPLE, the news of Eliza’s pregnancy first started making the rounds when she attended a NYC screening of Mapplethorpe with her baby bump on full display. She also confirmed her pregnancy on the red carpet when a reporter stopped to question her and her husband, who produced the film.
The couple’s son was later born in August of that year. While his legal name is Philip, the parents affectionately refer to him as ‘Bourne’ in many of their social media posts. While the toddler is a regular in his mom’s feed, the actress makes a point to rarely show glimpses of her son’s face.
Eliza’s second pregnancy is happy news for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans after the hit ‘90s T.V. show found itself in the middle of controversy. Earlier this month, Charisma Carpenter came forward to accuse creator Joss Whedon of being inappropriate during her time on the show as well as its spin-off Angel. She criticized the director for mocking her appearance, questioning her beliefs, and reportedly firing her after she gave birth.
Many of the BTVS cast members have since spoken out following Charisma’s allegations, including Eliza, who offered her support via Instagram. She praised her former co-star’s bravery for coming forward. "I'm so sorry you have held this for so long," she wrote. "Your post was powerful, painful, and painted a picture we'll collectively never un-see or un-know."
Continuing on in her post, Eliza said she was unaware of Joss’s treatment of Charisma. However, she encouraged others with similar experiences to come forward, noting that “healing can only come from naming and disclosing what actually happened.”
Other Buffy the Vampire Stars who came forward in support of Charisma include Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Marsters, and David Boreanaz.
