Did your parents tell you not to draw on the walls while growing up? Apparently, you don’t have to worry about that if you’re the child of Elon Musk and Grimes, as the singer recently shared a photo of their 1-year-old son drawing a mural in his bedroom.

Posting to her Instagram Story, Grimes uploaded a photo of the toddler drawing on a door with a black marker. To the right of the door, a larger mural could be seen directly above the baby’s bed. The scene was presumably drawn by Grimes, and featured a dragon sitting on top of a castle and a cartoon woman over the light switch.

We had a rough day but we made up for it by starting a mural in X’s room,” Grimes captioned the photo.

Elon and Grimes welcomed their son, X Æ A-Xii, in May 2020. While it was the first child for Grimes, it was the seventh for Elon, who shares six sons with his ex-wife Justine Musk - 17-year-old twins, Xavier and Griffin, as well as 15-year-old triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian. The former couple’s eldest son, Nevada, passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in 2002.

Elon and Grimes were first romantically linked in 2018, however, they confirmed their break-up earlier this year. The billionaire first told Page Six last month that they’re “semi-separated but still love each other.” The Tesla founder added that they continue to be on “great terms,” and hinted that their work schedules may have contributed to the break-up.

It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA,” Elon said.

The businessman added that Grimes and their son were staying with him at the moment as they focus on co-parenting their 17-month-old. Grimes has since also confirmed their split, joking she’ll be colonizing [one of Jupiter’s moons] Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune," Vanity Fair reports.

Last month, Grimes opened up about how she’s adjusting to being a mother, and she admits it doesn’t feel natural. In fact, her son doesn’t even refer to her as mom, and rather calls her by her first name. The singer says she believes her son can “sense my distaste for the word ‘mother.’”

Being a mother feels weird to say,” she told Vogue. “For some reason, I don’t identify with that word, which is also really weird because X, he says, ‘Claire,’ but he doesn’t say ‘mama.’”

Despite feeling disconnected from the idea of being a mother, Grimes says that welcoming her son has helped inspire her music. "I think having a baby was a big rebirth for me, like artistically," she told Vogue, suggesting that new music may be in her future.
