In Austin, Texas, EMS workers helped to deliver a baby on the side of the highway.
One woman went into labor on the morning of December 29th. She was having very strong contractions and she knew that she wasn't going to be able to make it to the hospital. Medic Cole Turner and his partner, Clinical Specialist Chris Marks responded to the call and they picked the woman up. They were on their way to the hospital in Travis County in Austin, Texas. While they were driving to the hospital they realized that they were not going to make it in time for her to deliver.
Turner and Marks had to pull over on the side of Highway 183 at around 3:15 a.m to help mom deliver the baby. They helped her deliver the baby and made sure that all of their vitals were okay. They brought mom and baby to the hospital where they could be checked out more fully.
The medics tweeted later that day that little baby and mom were doing great and they were so excited to have delivered such a healthy little one. The medics team also helped to deliver a little baby boy on December 18th. The same EMS team were able to help deliver the little baby boy when they knew that they were not going to make it to the hospital in time. They had to pull over and help mom deliver the baby. Thankfully the baby boy was healthy!
These first responders have had quite the month! They have delivered two babies on the side of the highway! Thankfully both babies were both extremely healthy and they didn't have any complications to the babies or mom. Most of the calls that ambulance workers receive are almost always something very traumatic, or something that is very serious. They hardly ever get to receive calls where they get such happy endings. The EMS workers were so excited to have such amazing experiences this month! Thank you to all of the first responders out there for all that you do and all of your hard work.
