Love & hip-hop star Erica Mena is facing backlash for revealing she has no plans to vaccinate her unborn child- and one of her loudest critics is her 11-year old son.

Mena is currently expecting a daughter with her husband, Safaree Samuels, who she wed earlier this year. Unfortunately, her pregnancy hasn’t been without drama, as the Internet is unimpressed that she’s taken an anti-vaccination stance. Her young son, 11-year old King Conde, evidently also disagrees with her decision.

Text conversations that were shared on Mena’s Instagram story show a conversation between her and her son in which he tries to persuade her to change her mind. “My son King is not letting up on his reasons why we should vaccinate the baby,” Mena captioned the conversations. The photos were later screengrabbed by The Blast. “Just admit you’re wrong and give up,” King, whose father is Raul Conde, texted his mother. However, Mena wasn’t about to be lectured by her pre-teen son. “Don’t talk to your mother like this is disrespectful and not gonna be tolerated,” she wrote in response.

However, King continued to speak his mind, explaining that he was worried about how his mother’s decision would impact his sister in the future. “Oh, I’m sorry for wanting my baby sister to live as healthy as possible,” he wrote. “While you’re convinced ignoring what right for her is fine? I’m sorry for possibly being disrespectful but I’m only being that way because I’m passionate about this.” King also added an “I love you” at the end.

Although Mena seemed unpersuaded, she said she was proud her son was so concerned about his younger sister’s well-being. “Look at you being a great big brother. I can’t [wait] for her to get here so you can defend her with all your might,” Erica replied to her son’s pleading.

However, the celebrity’s fans couldn’t help but take her son’s side. Many of her 4.6 million followers urged her in the comments to reconsider her anti-vax stance. “It’s sad that the 11-year-old has to fight to do the right thing for his baby sister,” one person wrote, for instance. Another added, “How sad is it that your 11-year-old has more sense than you do?”
