Mendes said that she always has snacks in her purse and her daughters always want something different and fresh and so she is constantly having to restock her purse and always have something for them. She said that her daughter even has to have snacks going short distances. In all seriousness though, she confessed that nobody actually told her how difficult motherhood was going to be. Mendes admitted that it was a lot harder than she ever thought possible. “[I’m] a chauffeur, a cook, a personal assistant to an abusive boss. They’re not grateful. Any other profession you would need to pass a test, but the only test I had to pass was a pregnancy test. That doesn’t seem fair.” Nobody is qualified to become a mother because nobody does anything that will fully prepare them for all of the duties and responsibilities that being a mother requires. Mendes said that she and Gosling have very similar parenting styles. They both consider themselves "bulldozers" and they can be very controlling of their children.

Even though motherhood is very difficult and she struggles often with her role she loves it so much. Halloween is coming up soon and she is excited to be able to go trick-or-treating with her daughters except they want to be the same thing again this year. They want to be Dorthy from Wizard of Oz which they were last year. Mendes said she is currently trying to convince her daughters to do something different. She does feel like it is Halloween every day in their house because they are constantly dressing up!
