Kristin Fisher is an Emmy Award-winning FOX News correspondent who covers the White House and other pressing political matters such as the upcoming 2020 election in the United States. For about five years now, she has worked hard to cover everything that goes on in the White House. She's also the founder of Field Mouse Films- a company that focuses on making films for both corporations and news organizations. Outside of work, Fisher is a happy wife and mom of one to a two-year-old daughter named Clara.

Fisher credits a lot of her inspiration- both professionally and personally- to her astronaut mother, Dr. Anna Lee Fisher. Dr. Fisher made history back in 1984 by becoming the first mom to go into space. Such a groundbreaking achievement would no doubt shape Fisher into the career woman and mom that she is today!

We were quite fortunate to speak with Fisher just days before Mother's Day. In this exclusive interview with Babygaga, Fisher talks about her experience working for FOX News, how her mother's achievement affected her, and being a working mom during the coronavirus pandemic.

Babygaga (BG): Could you please offer some background on yourself?

Kristin Fisher (KF): I'm a correspondent for FOX News at the White House and the upcoming 2020 election. I also have a two-year-old little girl named Clara.

BG: How did you end up working for FOX News?

KF: I studied journalism in college, and worked my way up in local news before landing a national reporting gig at FOX in 2015.

BG: What has your experience been like working for FOX News?

KF: I started working in the FOX News Washington Bureau two months before then-candidate Donald Trump’s infamous elevator ride to announce he was running for President. I then joined our White House Unit when he took office. So his ascent in American politics has dominated my time at FOX. It’s exciting and exhausting. It feels like you’re at the center of where everything is happening…and that’s exactly where I like to be.

BG: What has been your favorite assignment that you covered for FOX News to date?

KF: Last Thanksgiving, I traveled with President Trump on a top-secret trip to Afghanistan. I was exceptionally grateful to my husband, who didn’t flinch when I told him- with only 48 hours notice- that I’d be abandoning him for the holiday in a cabin with my mom, his mom, and our daughter.

BG: What inspired you to find Field Mouse Films?

KF: I spent nearly a decade as a one-man-band reporter in local news, and I learned to love shooting and editing video as much- if not more- than being on camera. One of my long-term goals has always been to make a documentary about space because both of my parents were NASA astronauts. So founding Field Mouse Films was the beginning of that effort.

BG: What do you hope is next for you in your career?

KF: I hope there's a campaign trail to get back on sometime before Election Day.

BG: Do you believe that your mother’s achievement as the first mom in space inspired you at all?

KF: My mom showed me it was possible to have a demanding, full-time job and still be a loving, present parent. She was assigned to her first spaceflight when she was eight months pregnant with me, gave birth on a Friday, and was back at work the following Monday.

BG: How has the coronavirus pandemic affected your job?

KF: I now get my temperature checked and an occasional COVID-19 test every time I enter the White House.

BG: How do you juggle working from home and being a mom, especially during a pandemic?

KF: I still go to the White House or do live shots right outside the White House, so I’m not really working from home right now.

BG: Do you have any advice for working moms during this time?

KF: Noise-cancelling Air Pods. Highly recommend!
