Experts are predicting that Baby Archie will have an American accent like mom Meghan Markle when he starts talking in the coming months. The royal baby, who just turned eight months, may soon be forming his first words.

Now living in Canada, it’s likely that Baby Archie will interact with other babies with North American accents, while at home he will be learning from Meghan Markle, 38, who was born in Los Angeles but lived in Canada for six years, and Prince Harry, 35, who has a British accent.

According to experts, Baby Archie will probably be making his first sounds and words from eight to 18 months. Jennifer Dorman, a didactic expert at language-learning app Babbel, told Fabulous Digital that Baby Archie could have either an American or Canadian accent.

“Archie has just hit eight months old, so he’s expected to be uttering his first words in the coming few months,” she said. “Between eight to 10 months, infants begin to focus on and listen more acutely to the sounds that are meaningful in their environment.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently living in an £11 million house on Vancouver Island in Canada, will reportedly divide their time between the UK and North America. Dorman says this will hugely impact Archie’s accent, adding, “The foundation for an accent is laid out during the first year of a child’s life. Not only will both Harry and Meghan’s British and American accents influence Archie’s development, so will the local variety of Canadian English that he will hear whilst he’s in Canada.”

The result of spending time both in Canada and England, as well as the U.S., could result in a British-American-Canadian hybrid. Archie may even adapt his accent to whomever he is speaking to, alternating between an American, Canadian and British accent. Although Baby Archie is expected to be making sounds soon, he may not be able to form recognizable words for a while.

Harry and Meghan, who moved to Canada this year to pursue a more independent lifestyle, still have many guessing whether they will be working or simply focused on their philanthropy. Primatologist Jane Goodall said on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme that “Prince Harry really felt constrained and he desperately wants little Archie to grow up away from all the pomp and royalty."

Last Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a JP Morgan summit in Miami, where Harry was expected to give a speech. Experts say they could have been paid up to £775,000 for attending and giving a speech.

According to the Sussex Royal website, the couple will still receive 95% of funding for their office expenditure from "income allocated by HRH The Prince of Wales, generated through the Duchy of Cornwall."

The remaining 5% of their funding, which was paid by the government's Sovereign Grant, will be relinquished. According to The Independent, Meghan previously had a personal fortune of around £3.8 million, while Prince Harry’s net worth is estimated to be around £30 million.
