A family preparing to welcome the newest member of their clan didn’t let COVID-19 hospital restrictions get them down. Due to the pandemic, many hospitals have implemented restrictions on the number of guests allowed inside the hospitals. But for one family, they made the most of the opportunity and set up a hilarious tailgate outside the hospital window.

Last week, Madilyn Mazur and her husband Michael Mazur were preparing to welcome their first child together at a hospital in North Carolina. However, because of the pandemic, family members were not allowed inside the hospital to help cheer Madilyn on or give their support. So, instead, they took their support to the outside – literally! According to ABC 11, family members set up a tent outside and held a tailgate-like celebration in preparation for the baby boy’s arrival. Photos show family members under the tent with their chairs and signs stuck into the grass for the soon-to-be mom to read. Some signs made the couple laugh because they read, “Push Maddie” and “Just say ‘yes’ to the drugs.” Madilyn described it as a “parking lot party” and says her dad even brought his speaker to the baby tailgate. She jokingly said she was just waiting for corn hole boards to break out.

On September 25, Madilyn and Michael welcomed their baby boy into the world. Madilyn shared on her Facebook page that their son came after two long days via C-section. Their son, who they named Michael Patrick Mazur, weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long. Madilyn says baby Michael gave them a scare because his cord was wrapped around his neck and he was not breathing. Thankfully, Michael was delivered safely, and he and his mom are both happy and healthy. Madilyn said she didn’t think she could love someone so much and added that their baby boy has stolen their hearts.

Despite his scary entrance into the world, baby Michael passed his hearing tests and is “eating like a champ.” The now mom-of-one says she also found out that her gestational diabetes is gone, and she has not had any blood pressure issues since her son’s arrival. She shared on social media that she feels like a new person and the swelling in her face has gone down, too.

Madilyn and baby Michael were discharged from the hospital on Sunday and went home for the first time. The new mom says she is appreciative of all of the doctors and nurses who helped her, and everyone else who has been supportive.
