Food Network's Katie Lee has no time for unsolicited advice when it comes to raising her newborn baby girl. Her clap back response when a follower told her that she holds her daughter too much is proof that mama knows best.

Katie Lee gave birth to her first child, daughter Iris, in September. The Food Network star and husband Ryan Biegel struggled to conceive due to infertility.  In February of last year, Lee announced that she was expecting, and her followers and fans went crazy with support for The Kitchen co-host. Since the arrival of little Iris, Lee has peppered her Instagram account with adorable photos of her newborn baby girl. In one of the more recent photos, Lee is snuggling Iris close to her chest, with the caption, "Wish I could hold her like this forever."

After participating in a candid question-and-answer session on her Instagram Story Thursday, the new mom shared a direct message from a user who offered unsolicited advice about holding her baby. According to PEOPLE, the direct message read, "I'm sure you've been told this but it's not good to hold Iris so much. She needs time for her back/spine/stomach and muscles to develop ... not a 'Karen' just trying to help." This didn't sit well with the cookbook author, and she made sure to let her mom-voice be heard. Atop her post, she wrote,  "Mom shame, much? Not to worry, my baby gets plenty of tummy time, activity time, etc." Later, Lee followed up by sharing a message from one of her fans who said, "held her son through naps for months" with no issues later on. The fan also assured Lee that she was "doing a great job." The 39-year-old wrote, "Messages like these are why I love my followers." During the television food critic's live Q&A, she went on to discuss everything from going through "multiple rounds" of in vitro fertilization to not showing her daughter's face on social media. She even touched on her decision not to have a nanny and her struggles with breastfeeding, which she described as "the hardest thing I've ever done." Lee revealed that she and Biegel originally decided to hire someone to assist with Iris, however, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, they decided against a nanny. The silver lining? Lee stated, "I am glad it worked out this way bc I love doing everything for her and it's been an incredible bonding experience."

During an interview last month with PEOPLE, Lee chatted about how she planned to spend Thanksgiving with her family, which will be Iris' first holiday. As opposed to the large celebration they usually have, she shared that they would be "having a very small holiday." Lee described Iris as "the perfect sous chef." "I bring Iris' little chair in and put it on the floor, and she sits there and it's almost like we're having a little cooking show together because I talk to her constantly to try to help her vocabulary eventually," she explained.  A future mommy-daughter cooking pair?
