A recent Reddit thread shows how having a baby can sometimes make people a little crazy. In a text exchange, a woman contacts an acquaintance named Jennay that she met at a friend’s christening to let her know that she’s expecting a baby, her first girl.

The woman, who already has four boys, says she would like to name her daughter Tillie but realized that Jennay already has a dog named Tilly. She asks if Jennay would mind changing the dog’s name to avoid any embarrassing encounters. Understandably, Jennay refuses to do so and even mentions that it’s not a big deal since they’ll probably never meet.

In a dramatic turn of events, the woman goes on a tirade, calling Jennay “heartless and unreasonable” for refusing to give into her demands. She then takes it one step further, accusing Jennay of ruining a baby’s life by not agreeing to change her dog’s name to accommodate an unborn child and her hysterical mother.

To her credit, Jennay never loses her cool and just lets the woman throw a tantrum, which makes you wonder what the woman’s parenting skills are like. After telling Jennay to f*ck off, she proceeds to threaten to tell Jennay’s relatives who hosted the christening where they met about the situation. She ends her rant by telling Jennay that she is a “disgrace.”

Commenters didn’t even bother pointing out the absurdity of this exchange but rather offered advice on how Jennay should deal with the woman. One Reddit user suggested that Jennay should agree to change the dog’s name and then name the dog after the woman. Another user told Jennay that she should get four more dogs and name them after the woman’s other kids.

I can personally somewhat identify with this situation since my niece shared the same name as my friend’s dog, while my dog had the same name as his daughter. Though this was mere coincidence and we didn’t know at the time that the dogs and kids shared the same names, it also never occurred to us to suggest that anyone change anything. In fact, the coincidence made for an interesting anecdote and by no means was anyone, human or dog, scarred for life.
