A new study, which followed almost 200 13 year old, found some shocking information. They are now warning the next generation to be careful!

The study found that kids who participated in activities like shoplifting, vandalism, substance abuse, sneaking into movies or having promiscuous encounters, also known as "pseudomature behavior, are more likely to develop issues with drugs and alcohol and have troubled relationships in their 20's. These risks actually go up to 45% for drug and alcohol abuse and 22% increase in the chance of involvement in criminal behavior, compared to the less "cool kids." Although it was a small study, it showed patterns on how adolescents can deal with peer pressure now and later in life.

University of Virginia psychology professor Joseph P. Allen in a statement, "It appears that while so-called cool teens' behavior might have been linked to early popularity, over time, these teens needed more and more extreme behaviors to try to appear cool." The study is going to continue on to see what it also affects even later on into their adult lives. So get "Geeky" because it might be the way to go!
