Gabrielle Union went through years of infertility and multiple heartbreaking miscarriages so she is taking every precaution she can to protect her precious newborn baby girl. The 47-year old actress is absolutely insisting that anyone who comes in contact with her baby must be fully vaccinated.

And she is serious about it! Union and her husband NBA star Dwyane Wade welcomed daughter Kaavia James in November via surrogate. The couple recently gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey that took place in their home.

As expected, Winfrey's crew had to enter the home to conduct the interview but no one was entering that home without receiving their whooping cough vaccine and providing their up to date vaccination record. Because really guys, look at this woman and her baby. Adorable.

Of course, Oprah obliged because it is a completely legitimate request and Oprah is awesome. Scary Mommy reported on the new mom being the ultimate momma bear from the start.

Union had been quiet about her infertility struggles until she revealed her hardships last year on social media. She endured nine miscarriages before turning to surrogacy to fulfill her dream of being a mother.

Needless to say, Union is doing everything she can to protect her precious daughter. Union was the victim of some criticism after she posted a video on Instagram of herself kissing her newborn. Some fans warned her of the dangers of kissing an infant that small on the mouth by leaving very helpful comments on this video.

Union put any naysayers in their places by stating that she won't even handle her own baby with washing her hands and using sanitizer by writing a response that said, "If you think I waited this long and went thru all this to put my baby in harm’s way, you got another thing coming."

Science has proven time and again that vaccines save lives and that babies too young to be vaccinated are especially vulnerable to contracting these preventable diseases. Requiring that all people meeting your baby be vaccinated is a normal want and need. Most people will likely comply and those who won't, don't need to come around.

What do you think of Union's vaccine rule? Did you have a similar request for your newborn? Let us know what you think in the comments!
