Just when you think that you’ve heard everything, get a load of this. There’s a new report that says that one mother-to-be decided that it would be a good idea to charge her family and friends a $20 entry fee to cover her gender reveal party. Needless to say, the idea didn’t go over so well with those who were on the guest list.

A poster on Reddit decided to share her grievances with the world after she found out that her pregnant friend wanted to charge her family and friends a cover fee to cover the cost of the gender reveal party, in which she and all of her loved ones would get to find out if she is carrying a baby boy or a baby girl.

While baby showers have long been a tradition for many parents, gender reveals have only become a trend in the last several years.

The Reddit user admitted that even though she was strapped for cash, she wanted to be a good friend and be there for the expectant mother. However, the pregnant mom said on the invitations that it would be a baby shower and not actually a gender reveal party.

Despite her personal circumstances, the friend decided that she would take the day off from work to be there for her friend. But it wasn’t until the day of the gender reveal party that she found out that her pregnant friend not only changed her plans, but that she also wanted to have an additional party three weeks later.

"About a week before the baby shower I get a text from her saying this party would actually be a gender reveal party and they were having a separate baby shower three-weeks later that she wanted me to come to as well," the woman wrote. "I was slightly annoyed because I knew I was going to have to request off work again and buy another gift. I told her I would try my best to be there but I couldn’t make any promises.”

To complicate matters even more, right before the party was about to kick off, the pregnant friend texted the guest list to tell everyone that there would be a $20 entry fee to the party. That’s when the Reddit user got angry, to say the least.

She texted back her friend and told her that she didn’t have the additional $20 that was needed to for the cover fee. Her friend replied that she couldn’t make any exceptions and that she reminded her that she had already told her she would be there. That’s when things got ugly, to say the least.

"She texted me a few days later informing me I was disinvited to the future baby shower and how she was appalled I couldn’t even send a message to let her know I wasn’t coming after I said I would be there," she explained.

A lot of Reddit users sympathized with the poster, saying that charging a cover fee wasn’t only “tacky” but that the pregnant friend was the one who lost the most. She later found out through a mutual friend that only 11 of the 30 people who were invited showed up to the gender reveal.
