George Clooney recently revealed how shocked he was when he learned that he was going to be the father of not just one but two babies. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the 59-year-old opened up about his new movie, home life with his wife Amal Clooney, and being a twin dad to three-year-old Ella and Alexander.

During the couple's ultrasound, the Ocean's Eleven star was over the moon when he found out that he was going to have a baby boy. Much to his surprise, the doctor also informed him that there was one more baby in there. According to People, it took a few good minutes for the actor to wrap his head around having twins. He recalled that moment to CBS News correspondent Tracy Smith, "I was up for one!" he joked, laughing. "I'm like, 'I'm old.' All of a sudden it's two and I literally ... it's hard to get me to not talk and I just stood there for like 10 minutes, just staring at this piece of paper going, 'What, two?!' " He also added that he is "so glad" that his son and daughter "have each-other."

Also in his interview, the actor-director described how his wife, Amal, "changed everything for him," describing that when she walked into his life, everything about her soon became more important than himself. Originally, the two had no plans of marriage or children. "We never talked about having kids, and then one day we just said, 'What do you think?'" Clooney recalled. The couple tied the knot in a lavish Italian wedding in 2014 just a year after they met. In June 2017, the pair welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander. Clooney admitted that fatherhood was something he didn't see coming but described it as very fulfilling.

The Midnight Sky actor (his latest post-apocalyptic thriller to premiere on Netflix at the end of the month) spoke about the coronavirus pandemic and life in lockdown with his family. Charmingly, he joked about not remembering the last time he did so much laundry or mopping his dirty floors. The twin dad took a brief moment to idolize his mother, stating that at this point in his life, he can now sympathize with her because in 1964 she was a single mother of two and doing it all. "I don't know how she did it now. I have more sympathy for her now than ever."
