Singer Gwen Stefani has had an incredibly successful career for quite a while now. She has lots of awesome music, and she also has quite a bit of experience on television as well. The singer is also currently dating Blake Shelton, who is one of the most popular singers in the country music scene these days. But none of those things are the most important part of this musician’s life. When Stefani was still married to singer Gavin Rossdale, she became a mother of three. Their names are Kingston, Apollo, and Zuma, and Stefani has done a great job raising them. Here are some parenting rules she follows.

10 10. Parents Shouldn’t Forget Who They Are

Stefani may not perform as much as she used to, but the singer still enjoys the attention she gets while she is on stage. The star used to go on tour a lot a long time ago, but her life has calmed down a lot since she had children and started seeing Shelton.

But that does not mean that her love of performing is gone. Stefani puts on shows in Las Vegas these days, and the musician claimed that she remembered how much she loves performing once she got back on the stage. It seems as though she has found a nice way to balance her career with motherhood, which is very important.

9 9. Don’t Discuss Your Career With Your Kids

Stefani may be a rockstar to the rest of the world, but she is much more than that to her children, and there are some details of her career that she does not discuss with her little ones. Apparently, her children do not pay much attention to the fact that she is famous at all.

They know what her job is, but they do not know everything about it. The star said that stuff doesn’t really matter to kids, and that her children only want her to be their mother, so that is what she does. But there was one time when Kingston sent her a text to wish her good luck before she went on stage.

8 8. Discipline Is Hard, But It Must Be Done

Most parents, including Stefani, know that discipline is not exactly one of the easy parts of being a parent, and yet it must be done. Stefani claimed that she has a discipline chart, but following it can be a bit of a chore.

Stefani is not a big fan of doing this, but at the same time, she knows that it must be done. Children need to learn that there are consequences when they do not listen to their moms and dads. According to Stefani, this is the only way children can be taught what is right and what is wrong.

7 7. Be Involved

Despite how busy she is, Stefani is such a hands-on parent that she actually has been known to get together with her old bandmates and perform at Zuma’s school at a fundraising event that they were holding at the time. Apparently, the singer was originally planning to get together with one of them to do some acoustic performances, but they decided to get the whole band in on it.

At the time, it had been a few years since they all performed together. But that didn’t seem to take away from the chemistry all of the bandmates have always shared.

6 6. Being A Bit Strict Is Okay

Stefani might let her boys walk around with painted nails, but that doesn’t mean she is cool with them having piercings. The singer claimed that her children have asked her if they could get their ears pierced, and she turned them down.

Each parent has their own boundaries that they believe should not be crossed, and ear piercings are one of those boundaries for Stefani. This is probably because she feels it is a sign that they are growing up too fast, which is something that no mom or dad really enjoys. That’s why Stefani feels relieved when she sees that her children are still interested in playing.

5 5. It’s Important To Have Vacations With The Kids

Stefani and Shelton know that having family vacations is important, and Shelton has even used that time to strengthen his bond with Stefani’s children. Recently, the lovebirds packed up their things and took a fun trip to Oklahoma, which is where Shelton is from. During their stay, he was seen fishing with Stefani’s youngest son, Apollo.

A lot of people thought Stefani was no match for Shelton, and she proved them wrong when she posted pictures of their trip on Instagram. While they were there, the couple fished and went hiking together, and they also wore a lot of camouflage.

4 4. Honesty Is The Best Policy

In Stefani’s opinion, loving a person always means that being honest with them is the best way to go, which is why she chooses never to lie to her children. The singer will always try to be as open and honest about various things with her boys when she can.

That is great, because there are actually a lot of things that children can learn if their parents are always honest with them. When children have moms and dads who do not hide the truth from them, they are more likely to see their parents as very relatable people. This is also a great way for moms and dads to show their children that no one is perfect.

3 3. Parents Should Be Careful About What They Say To The Public

Some celebrity parents are very open people, but Stefani believes it is important to keep her personal life out of the spotlight for the sake of her children. As a parent, Stefani knows that it is her job to protect each one of them.

She is a mother, and nothing is as important to her as her children are. Stefani knows that her kids will eventually find out about what she says and does since she is so famous, and she wants to do her best to try to keep from embarrassing them. Stefani also worries that she will accidentally upset them in some way.

2 2. Nobody Is Perfect

Stefani might seem like a perfect mother to her fans, but is actually proof that there is no such thing. As awesome as the star is, even she sometimes feels as though she is not the best parent. It’s easy to see why she feels this way. Like many mothers everywhere, she is trying to balance a career with raising children, and that is certainly no walk in the park.

Stefani tries to make everyone in her life happy, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way she hoped it would. Stefani feels guilty for not being able to be with her kids more often, which only makes her seem even more relatable.

1 1. Keeping The Kids In School Is A Big Deal

Stefani used to have no problem taking her children out of school, but she has changed her tune about that since then. Other stars homeschool their children, which makes traveling a lot easier for them to do.

But Stefani wanted something different and more traditional for her sons, which is why she kept them in public school. The only downside to that is that she doesn’t get to take them on tour like she used to, but it seems as though she is okay with that.

The star said that it is hard on her children when their routines get randomly interrupted, which is probably something lots of parents can agree with. Consistency is definitely important, especially when young children are involved.
