Going back 18 years, one man, Charlie Heflin, saved a newborns life! When he found out she was graduating, he decided to surprise her. He was a paramedic and responded to an emergency call to find a missing newborn. After receiving a tip, he headed to the cemetery to look for her.
There she was, a newborn baby girl with her umbilical cord still attached. "My birth mother abandoned me," said Skyler. "I was left in a cemetery. That night, there was a call put out to the dispatchers." "I heard a little whimper when I got close to the tree,' said Charlie. "I dug down inside this real huge pine tree and found her." 5 days later, she was adopted into a family. 15 years later she decided to look for him on Facebook and thankfully found him. She decided to give him a call. "The call was, 'Are you Charlie Heflin? Do you remember rescuing a baby back in 1995,'" said Charlie. "My heart just sank."
Her adoptive mother called Heflin and invited him to her graduation as a surprise for Skyler. When they finally met, they were able to enjoy a moment that both had hoped would come. He gave her his jacket, the one he was wearing when he saved her life.
