Megan Fox has been one of Hollywood's hottest actresses for more than a decade. She's topped lists of the most gorgeous celebrities and brought people in droves to watch blockbusters. But life has changed a lot for Megan in recent years.

Megan first rose to fame playing a daughter on a hit sitcom, but now she's a mom. With her husband Brian Austin Green, Megan has a 6-year-old son named Noah Shannon, a 4-year-old son named Bodhi Ransom and a 2-year-old boy named Journey River. She's also a stepmom to Brian's oldest child from a previous relationship.

The boys have undoubtedly changed her life, and they have altered her career. The star of the Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchises doesn't talk a lot about her family, but she has shared a surprising amount of her parenting experience. If it wasn't for the movie sets and red carpet moments, we'd swear that Megan is just like us — although she has been the center of a few parenting controversies.

Megan has definitely changed a lot in the past seven years, and she credits everything to her sons. From Hollywood to motherhood, here are 22 things to know about Megan Fox as a mom.

22 Her Baby Daddy Was Our '90s Crush

Megan has fulfilled all of our '90s goals. She fell in love with and married one of the men whose image filled our childhood wall space, as one of the heartthrobs from the mega hit Beverly Hills, 90210. Brian Austin Green is 12 years older than Megan, but their May-October romance has withstood the test of time.

The pair met when they both appeared on the television show Hope and Faith, where she was a regular cast member. And while they have had their ups and downs, they have been together for 14 years now, including eight years married. With three kids, they are one of Hollywood's golden couples.

21 She Puts Her Kids Before Her Work

Megan is still making movies, but she makes a point of selecting projects that allow her to spend as much time with her kids as possible. She has said that she prefers to do movies with short time commitments and that are filmed closer to home.

Both Megan and Brian are working actors, but they definitely put their family first. "I love it. It's what I've wanted to do since I was a little girl. I always wanted to mother things and I constantly had a doll I was taking care of. I don't receive the same satisfaction from my career as I do from being a mother so I'm really happy," she said in an interview.

20 She Was Pregnant While Acting In A Blockbuster

Life on a movie set can be pretty exciting, and it requires a lot of energy. But Megan had to handle her job starring in the first of several Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies while she was pregnant with her second baby and doing her best to parent her infant firstborn.

"Everything is more challenging while you’re pregnant in that first trimester, [including] working on an action movie where you’re working long hours," Megan said in a Fandango interview, adding that she'd often get home about the time that her baby was waking up for the day. "There was no time to sleep because I still wanted to be a mother… and not just be at work and sleep whenever he was awake. Trying to balance that was very difficult and then trying to balance that with the nausea and the fatigue you go through the first 16 weeks is really difficult."

19 She's Into Long Hair

We love Megan Fox's long luscious locks, but people seemed to have a problem when Megan let her sons grow their hair out. The boys were still preschoolers when people started criticizing Megan for letting them have long hair. But Megan didn't fight back against the people who posted comments on her social media pages. Instead she let her supporters make their point.

"They look super cute.... People saying letting boys have long hair is trying to make them girly are ridiculous," one fan wrote on her page. "Those opinions belong back in the 1950's. Keep doing what you're doing ms. fox, and that's raising happy content kids."

18 Her Boys Can Rock Dresses

Megan hasn't just been criticized for her boys' hair. People have also gotten upset at images of her sons dressing up in princess costumes or wearing skirts or dresses, which the actress has posted online on social media like it was absolutely no big deal in her house. Lots of kids play pretend, and gender doesn't mean anything to some kids or some adults.

"You can be whatever you want to be in my house," Megan said in a Jimmy Kimmel interview in response to the people who had a problem with how her boys were dressing.

17 None Of Her Babies Were Planned

Megan is the kind of mom who goes with the flow. In fact, she didn't plan any of her pregnancies — they just happened in the right time without her and Brian working to make them happen.

"You know, nothing is planned. None of them are ever planned. You kind of just go with it," Brian said in an interview quoted in E! Online. He was referring to the first two births, but it seems likely that the third was also unplanned, since it happened while Megan and Brian were separated. Babies might not be planned, but that doesn't mean that they aren't wanted, and Megan has said many times that she would be happy to have more babies, whenever they come.

16 She May Not Be The Best Stepmom

Before she had her own babies, Megan became a stepmom to Brian's oldest child, a son from his relationship with former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Vanessa Marcil. While Brian praised her in interviews years ago about her life as a stepparent, Vanessa has had some harsh words for both Megan and Brian in recent months.

Vanessa said her son Kassius is heartbroken and confused at the fact that he only sees his dad when there is a professional photographer around. She claimed that the couple got rid of his room in their house five years ago, and they even gave away his cat without him knowing. “He hasn’t ever seen Megan again or met his youngest brother. He’s not allowed to know where they live anymore. Isn’t invited to see them on holidays. Not even Father’s Day," Vanessa wrote on social media. Brian and Megan didn't respond to the accusations.

15 Back-To-Back Babies

We all knew that Megan and Brian's first baby would be beautiful, and we weren't disappointed when she introduced little Noah to the world. But their family wasn't done. In fact, they confirmed that their second little one was on the way less than a year later.

Noah and Bodhi seem to be best friends, when we get a glimpse through Megan's IG. Little Journey came a little over two years later. So that was three babies born in just over four years. "I knew I was always going to be a mother; I felt like that was always a big part of my path," she said in an interview. "But I never knew I was going to have three in such rapid succession!"

14 She Opted For An Epidural

Megan was able to keep the birth of her first baby a secret for three weeks — since there was another famous mom giving birth that day that distracted attention — but that doesn't mean that her delivery was without drama. Megan said that she had planned to give birth naturally, but she changed her mind right away.

“It hurts so bad. It was so intense,” she said in an Access Hollywood interview. “And I thought I was gonna be really tough and make it, I was going to labor to eight centimeters [...]. I was screaming for an epidural when [Brian] was driving me to the hospital because my water broke on its own and immediately — it was level orange pain alert." Birth plans change — even when you are a movie star.

13 Her Movie Money Becomes Their College Fund

Megan Fox has made a lot of money making movies, and she recently launched a lingerie line. But as much as she loves being at home with the kids, she hasn't retired because she wants to continue to make money for her family. Her movie earnings, she said, contribute to her kids' college fund.

“I have to be able to pay their way through college and be able to provide for them," Megan said in explaining that she only does one movie a year now and tries to make sure that it doesn't interfere with her home life as much as possible. We all have to think about our kids' future, and Megan is no different.

12 She's Raising Her Boys To Be Spiritual

Megan grew up in a religious home, but for her boys, the name of the game is more spiritual. In fact, the boys' names all have spiritual backgrounds. Noah is a well-known Biblical name that has sky-rocketed in popularity in recent years, but the other two also have a spiritual flair.

Bodhi's name is a Buddhist term that can translate to enlightenment, although Megan also noted that it's also the name of one of her favorite characters in the movie Point Break. And Journey's name is an ode to the path that her relationship took surrounding his birth.

11 She Prefers Roles Her Kids Can Watch

Megan became known for her amazing looks and many of her roles showed off her bod, but she doesn't want to just be known for her attractive looks. She has said that motherhood has changed the ways that she looks at her movie roles.

“It changes your perspective when you have a baby. I’m going to be more cautious about choosing films because I’m already thinking about when he’s in school and his friends are going to be showing him my photoshoots with me in a bikini and he’s going to be [pink in the cheeks]. So that will deter me from making some of the choices I made before," Megan said.

10 She Is A Hands-On Mom

When you have kids at home, it's a lot of work, and Megan has said her life is no different. She says that Brian often handles the morning school drop off, and she picks her boys up. He does most of the cooking and he's more OCD about cleaning, but they both are sure to spend lots of time parenting.

"If you choose to engage your children all day, every day, it's exhausting," Megan said of her life at home as a hands-on mom. "There's zero time for you to have adult thoughts, so your brain kind of turns to scrambled eggs sometimes. At the end of the day I've short-circuited. My brain doesn't work anymore."

9 She Doesn't Take Her Kids On Set

Some people might think that Megan's kids had the benefit of having a mom in the movies, especially since they love dress up so much themselves. But Megan has said that she doesn't bring her babies to the set, especially since Nah had an accident on a set when he was just toddling around.

"I did bring Noah to set when I was reshooting the first Turtles and he sustained his first injury, tripping over a wire and busted his lip – and I was like, never, ever again will I bring him on set. Sets are very dangerous. There is debris and explosives everywhere. They’re not safe spaces for small children," she said to Fandango.

8 Her Hubby Dotes On Her While Pregnant

We might have been a little jealous of Megan when she snagged our childhood crush, but Brian Austin Green is smart enough to know how lucky he is to have such a beautiful, talented wife. He's been open about how amazing she is and how much she deserves some pampering while she is pregnant.

"I just do whatever she asks for and I say 'Yes,' no matter what it may be," Brian said in a Parents article after the birth of their first son, while Baby No. 2 was still on board. He said he knows how amazing she is and how he couldn't do what she has done to bring their kids into the world.

7 She Got A Night Nurse

While Megan and Brian do most of the parenting and cooking (Brian, at least, is known to be a pretty good cook) and such, that doesn't mean that they don't get some help now and again. Since they can afford it, we don't begrudge Megan and Brian their decision to have a person there to help them out with the kids.

After Bodhi's birth, Megan said that as much as she wanted to be a mom, she wasn't too ashamed to ask for help. "Two weeks ago I said to Brian, 'We have to get a night nurse or we're going to get a divorce because somebody's got to sleep in this house or we're going to kill each other," he" she said in an interview. We're assuming she got what she wished for because the couple stayed strong for a while after the birth.

6 She Doesn't Turn On The TV At Home

Megan may be a movie star, but she actually doesn't let her kids watch television. She's OK with movies in some instances, but she's not comfortable with them watching TV because of the advertising and the fact that the stories can go on and on and the set might never be turned off.

I do select certain movies I think are appropriate that have positive messaging or are visually inspiring. I let them watch Finding Nemo, of course, because I think that’s a positive message and a beautiful movie," Megan said to Fandango in 2016, adding that Noah is obsessed with Petter Pan as well.

5 She's Less Focused On Appearance

Megan is a stunning beauty, and there was no denying that when she became popular overnight for her gorgeous appearance in Transformers. But even though her looks certainly provide her bread and butter, Megan isn't as focused on her appearance since the birth of her babies.

"I don't want to kill myself trying to get back into shape because it's not a priority right now. I'm too in love with Noah and I don't want to be away from him," she said in an interview after her oldest son was born. "I don't want to be at the gym, I just want to be home."

4 She Only Takes Jobs Close To Home

Megan has continued to work since she became a mom, but she's much more picky about the roles that she chooses to portray — and that choosiness comes in a lot of forms, including whether or not she has to travel to act in a production.

"I've always been hesitant to take movies out of town because I'm such a homebody but now it's not really an option," Megan said in one interview. She added in another interview that her ideal job is one that shoots for a very limited amount of time and allows her to work while still being able to come home at night for her little ones.

3 Her Youngest Helped Her Marriage

All marriages go through ups and downs, but there was a time when Megan and Brian thought that their marriage was over. The actress filed for divorce in 2015, but they remained co-parents and friends throughout their separation. And when Megan showed up at a CinemaCon event in 2016, there was a lot of speculation about who the father could be.

Megan even joked about it on social media. The couple eventually told the world that they had gotten back together, and they named their youngest baby Journey in honor of the way he helped them get through a rocky time in their relationship.
