Congratulations are in order for James Van Der Beek and his wife who announced they are pregnant with their sixth child!
James Van Der Beek and his wife are happy to announce that they are expecting another baby. He shared a picture of his family on Instagram and shared that he is very excited and thrilled beyond belief that another baby had chosen them. He said that they are in love with the baby and they have been excited to announce the baby. James shares that he is very grateful to be able to have the opportunity to have the Dancing With The Stars crew there to film their ultrasound. He was very happy that they were able to capture that moment on camera because there have been previous times where they have gone in and they didn't see a baby or there was no heartbeat at all.
James says that we really need to work on how we view miscarriage. We should never use the term "failed to carry" because it wasn't a "failure" for the woman to lose the baby. He said that women really shouldn't feel shame for having a miscarriage and women should not feel like they have to suffer in silence and keep it a secret. He wants to end the stigma and allow more women to open up about losing their baby. Women shouldn't feel like they did anything wrong. He said that he is very happy that this time his family was able to walk out of the ultrasound with tears of joy instead of joys of sadness.

Thrilled beyond belief to announce that another little bundle of joy has picked us to be their family. We chose to have our first ultrasound on camera with our #DWTS crew capturing the result - something I NEVER thought we’d ever do... but @vanderkimberly and I have been through three of those first appointments to discover either no heartbeat, or no baby, and she wanted to share this moment. Miscarriage (a word that needs a replacement - nobody failed to “carry”, these things sometimes just happen) is something that people rarely talk about, and often go through in secret. But there needs to be zero shame around it, or around giving yourself the time and space to grieve. We decided to put ourselves out there - not knowing what we’d find - in an effort to chip away at any senseless stigma around this experience and to encourage people who might be going through it to open themselves up to love & support from friends and family when they need it most. Happily, for us - this time- we walked out with tears of joy. #AndThenIDancedAQuickStep. • Pic by @jilliangoulding
This will be the couples, sixth child, together. They have 5 older children; Olivia, 9, Joshua, 7, Annabel, 5, Emilia, 3, and Gwendolyn, 1. The couple just welcomed their youngest child in 2018. They love their children so much and they are very excited to be able to add another baby to the mix.
James is currently on Dancing With The Stars and he had announced right before he danced a quick step to Walking on Sunshine with his partner Emma Slater. He was able to share the moment with his dance partner. “Today we are going to the doctor’s office to get an ultrasound. We have reason to believe we are pregnant again. We are so excited there’s a new little Van Der Beek in there,” Van Der Beek told Slater. "Hearing the heartbeat was, it’s something you never take for granted.” He then opened up with Slater that they have had three miscarriages in between their five children.
Congratulations you guys on baby number 6! We really hope that you have a healthy 9 months!
