James Van Der Beek previously revealed that his wife, Kimberly, had experienced a miscarriage. He disclosed the tragic news on an episode of "Dancing With the Stars" last month. In the episode, which debuted November 18th, he said emotionally that they lost their baby.

Now, James has informed given his fans another update about he and his wife Kimberly are doing after her miscarriage last month. The former "Dawson's Creek" star revealed on Instagram that they are "healing" at their "own pace." The selfie was a picture of himself with his wife at the beach; he mentioned that they are still in the process of recovering from their devastating loss.

He also wrote that the healing takes its own time. He finished his post writing telling that it is not a matter of choice, anyway. His family is still feeling the shock of their loss. The 42-year-old, James Van Der Beek, is a father of five. It was the sixth child that they were expecting to welcome to their family. James told that they have experienced this before, but not this late in the pregnancy. Previously, it also never had as much impact on his wife's health. He is now thankful that she’s now improving, but the wounds are still fresh.

On DWTS, Kimberly said that she had almost lost her life due to the miscarriage. In an Instagram post made the same day, she gave more details about the loss. She revealed she had three doctor's appointments in one week, but during the first one, the doctor couldn't locate a heartbeat.

In a separate post, James also gave more detail.  He emphasized that he and his wife want to help get rid of the stigma surrounding miscarriages. He added that miscarriages sometimes just happen. It is something that people seldom discuss, so they often suffer in secret. But no one should feel ashamed over it; they should just give themselves the time and space to heal.
