Being a celebrity and a parent can be complicated, much more than people think. Carrying the status of a celebrity may sound wonderful for some people, but even they have to deal with finding the perfect balance between their family and professional life. Many times, celebrities need to organize their schedules in detail to be present at important family events, whether it's the birth of a child or some other important activity.

Their busy schedules sometimes limit them in their free time, and that affects the time they can devote to their families. For this reason, some celebrities, such as Pink and her husband Carey Hart, decide to match the lives of their children to their work routines.  But not everyone thinks the same way, as some celebrity parents seek to give stability to their children and raise them in an environment that's as normal as possible and away from the entertainment hustle.

One example of this is Jamie Oliver, the famous chef, who has been married to Juliette Norton since 2000, and with whom he has 5 children. Jamie once explained during an interview with Good Housekeeping that he’s more of a “weekend parent,” revealing that due to his multiple businesses and ventures in the culinary and entertainment industry, he has a very tight schedule, which means he’s often not able to be around for his kids.

And because we know that it is not easy, today we will talk about the celebrity dads- some who are divorced and some who are still with their partners- that act more like part-time parents due to their busy schedules.

20 Jamie Oliver

Jamie Oliver rose to fame in 1999 thanks to his television show "The Naked Chef," where he showed a more friendly side of the kitchen, preparing dishes that are easy to make and delicious that anyone can prepare.

Oliver met who would be his wife, Juliette Norton, on a double date with Jamie’s friend Jimmy Doherty. Back then both were just teenagers, but the sparks were there. In 2000 they tied the knot, and in March 2002 they welcomed their first child, whom they decided to name Poppy Honey Rosie Oliver. Then, in 2003, they welcomed their second child, Daisy Boo Pamela Oliver, followed by Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver in 2009, Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver in 2010, and River Rocket Blue Dallas in 2016.

Oliver recently explained  to Good Housekeeping his view about being a father, saying:I will get to the key school events but I’m flat out Monday to Friday and normally see the children a couple of nights during the week."  The couple loves children, but one reality is that Jamie's busy life force him to spends long periods away from his family because he has to promote his work projects.

19 Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom has been stealing sighs in the entertainment industry since his role in the 2005 movie "Kingdom of Heaven." But in the early 2000s, it was the model, Miranda Kerr, who took his breath away.

According to Glamor Magazine UK, when they started dating Miranda was not very convinced he was 'the one' because she hated the idea of dating a movie star. However, Orlando was persistent and in 2010 they got engaged. In July of the same year, they married. That year they also announced that they were expecting their first child, Flynn Bloom, who was born in January 2011. Unfortunately, the couple ended up divorcing in 2013.

Both parents try to do their best co-parenting their son. Miranda tied the knot to Evan Thomas Spiegel, an American Internet entrepreneur, and she recently welcomed her second child last year. Orlando, on the other hand, is dating the American singer, Katy Perry, and he’s enjoying his role as a part-time dad.

18 Eddie Redmayne

The British actor has shined in the film industry thanks to films like "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," "Les Misérables," "The Theory of Everything, and currently he portrayed the role of Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Eddie is married to Hannah Bagshawe since 2014, and the couple has two children. Not much is known about his wife, except that she stays at home to take care of the children and enjoys their privacy away from the cameras. And although Eddie understands that the most important thing is his family, he has decided to stay in Hollywood and be a part-time father in order to give the best to his family.

“As any mother or father finds, being pulled away from your kids to go to work is tricky, so it makes you think harder, perhaps, about what choices you make,” he told U.K. TV show Good Morning Britain while promoting his role in Fantastic Beasts in 2016.

During an interview with Dad.info, Jackman shared his opinion on being a dad, saying,  "I like to think that I’m a very loving father. I love being around my children; that’s a no brainer." However, the Aussie actor has expressed that it's complicated to be a dad and being a Hollywood actor due to the demanding hours of filming and travel they must do away from their families. But he also knows that his work is the best way to give his children the lifestyle he wants for his family.

The tennis player is usually quite private with his personal life, but something that is known by all in this industry is that the life of any professional tennis player is very demanding. The hours of training and the long trips for the international competitions occupy a great part of their lives in a year, which is why we can consider Federer another "weekend parent."

He continued, "What I've learned more than anything about being a dad is how hard it is to be a mum. It's such a hard thing, she hasn't had any help from anybody, she's done it all herself and I think she’s truly amazing."

13 Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are one of those couples in the spotlight who has managed to keep their personal lives behind closed doors, so little is known about their family, especially because they avoid making public appearances together.

The couple started dating in 2011, after meeting on the film set of the movie "The Place Beyond the Pines," and since then they have been inseparable. They welcomed their first daughter Esmeralda in 2014, and in 2016 they welcomed their second daughter, Amada.

Ryan has shown us how difficult it can be to create a balance between his professional and personal life, which is why when he won a Golden Globe in 2017 for his role in the movie "La La Land," he thanked Eva Mendes in an emotional acceptance speech. "I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," he said in the speech. Currently, the singer is married to his girlfriend of many years, Lauren, with whom he has two beautiful daughters: Willa Gray Akins, who was born in Uganda and they adopted in 2017, and Ada James Akins, the couple's first biological child.

"Being an artist, you just gotta be ready to miss certain things, like Halloween and all these kind of things that you used to be able to be free for. Birthdays, all this kind of stuff." Then he continued, "At the same time, me and Lauren have definitely made a life for ourselves out here. She comes out here and she hangs out with the band and we goof off and have a good time out here."

Matthew has maintained his Hollywood celebrity status and has continued to work on various films, while his wife has stayed at home raising the children. But both are okay with that- in fact, they have similar parenting philosophies.

During an interview with Today, McConaughey explained their philosophy saying :“My wife and I have a similar moral bottom line. When kids try to good cop, bad cop ya, we’re on the same page. If they try to play us, we give the same answer. We also have a lot of fun. We can shape them, but they are who they are.”

10 Chris Martin

Chris Martin, the lead singer of the British band Coldplay, and American actress Gwyneth Paltrow were a golden couple for 14 years of marriage. They tied the knot in 2003 and lived mainly in London. In 2004 they had their daughter Apple and in 2006 their son Moses.

But it was in 2014 that they signed the divorce papers. Currently, the British musician is dating Dakota Johnson, the main character of the franchise "50 Shades of Grey," while his ex-wife just tied the knot for the second time. Gwyneth is now married to Brad Falchuk, an American screenwriter, and producer.

Chris and Gwyneth are proof that parents can reach a point of friendship after a divorce. And just like Thomas Rhett Akins, Chris faces the same issues when he is on tour with the band for long periods of time, which is why Martin tries to enjoy the maximum time he can share with his children.

9 Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper, the American actor and producer, is best known for films such as "Silver Linings Playbook" (2012), "American Hustle" (2013), and "American Sniper" (2014), and his most recent success "A Star Is Born" (2018).

For the movie "A Star is Born," Bradley was not only the director, but he also starred with Lady Gaga the film. So he had to take singing lessons to play the role of Jackson Maine. In general, film projects are often complex and actors spend months preparing for a role away from their families. However, Bradley and his partner seem happy with the fruits they have collected after the movie was released.

8 Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is another master gold of tennis in our times. The Serbian is currently considered number 1 in the professional tennis ranking, being above players like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

But being number 1 in the sports industry has a price, like everything in life as nothing comes for free, and Djokovic knows that. This is why he spends long hours of training trying to improve his game strategy and physical condition, in addition to the long trips he makes to attend each championship.

Without a doubt, Novak is in the best moment of his career, so retiring is a distant option, which is why his family accepts and appreciates the moments that the tennis player can dedicate to them. The couple has 3 beautiful children: India Rose Hemsworth who was born in 2012, and twins Tristan Hemsworth and Sasha Hemsworth, who were born in 2014. The family is based in Australia, where they live away from the spotlight. So every time that Chris has a new movie he flies away to be able to attend to the filming schedule and the media promotion tours.

6 Jamie Dornan

It is hard to picture Jamie Dornan in any role other than Mr. Grey, but the reality is that Jamie has his own life outside of Hollywood's cameras. Since 2013, Dornan has been married to the English actress, Amelia Warner, with whom he shares 2 daughters (and a third who is on the way). Dulcie Dornan was born in 2013, and they welcomed their second daughter, Elva Dornan, in 2016. Last year was learned that the couple was expecting again.

The thing with Dornan was that he used to have an actor and model status that did not affect his personal life. But due to the success of the franchise "50 Shades," the actor discovered what it is to be under the spotlight of the cameras 24/7, and away from his family for long periods of time. But so far Dornan seems to be enjoying his new status in Hollywood and does not seem to want to move away, as he is constantly seen in interviews and working on new projects while his wife takes care of the family at home.

During an interview the actor explained how having kids changed his perspective of life. "Having kids makes you a bit more focused, I think," he said. "Suddenly you’re not just doing it for yourself. It’s not just about you and your ego, it becomes about needing to provide, and that’s at the root of every decision you make. It’s about making sure you can support the other people that literally need you."

5 Rob Kardashian

Back in 2014, Blac Chyna was first introduced to the Kardashian clan through Kim and Kanye while she was dating rapper Tyga. After their split and dating other people, Chyna and Rob crossed paths again and this was when they started their rocky romance.

In April 2016, Rob and Chyna got engaged, and the next month the couple announced they were expecting. They even got their own E! reality show, "Rob & Chyna." Unfortunately, things were escalating quickly in the wrong direction, and the couple split shortly after they welcomed their daughter, Dréam Renee Kardashian, in November 2016.

Currently, it is rare to see Rob captured by the cameras, as the television star tries to stay away from the limelight. Although, recently, he was involved in another scandal with his ex, model Alexis Skyy. Nevertheless, Rob seems to enjoy being single again and his role as a “weekend father.” According to Hollywood Gossip, Chyna claimed last year that "he also hasn't been paying child support," and it seems that Rob continues to enjoy his bachelor life and does not seem very interested in being a full-time father.

Later the phone call scandal arose where he called their daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless little pig"  through voice message. The couple managed to reach a custody agreement and currently Alec's relationship with his daughter Ireland is on good terms.

In 2011, Alec met the yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas, who was 26 years younger than him. The next year they tied the knot. Currently, they have 3 children and are still together. And although on social media Alec seems to be constantly with his family, the reality is that his busy work schedule also keeps him away from them for much of the time. This is why his wife stays at home taking care of the children and occupied in her own ventures, while Alec still does not see retiring as an option.

3 Justin Baldoni

Justin baldoni the American actor, director and filmmaker is best known for his role in the sitcom "Jane the Virgin." He has been married to Emily Baldoni, a Swedish actress, since 2013 with whom he shares 2 kids: Maiya Grace Baldoni and Maxwell Roland-Samuel Baldoni.

Last year the actor shared a reflection on his role as a father on his social media, where he wrote the following: "It’s easy to scroll through my IG feed and assume I’m this super-present / amazing father that always makes time for his kids and family, and that everything is beautiful and happy and perfect."

He continued, "First of all- nothing is perfect. As a working dad with multiple jobs - I think I sometimes get so caught up in creating and securing a future for my wife and kids that I forget to be present and create a memory with them. It’s not easy, it’s not perfect, it’s messy and complicated and beautiful and awesome all at the same time, and I’m learning every day. But we can’t grow unless we stumble- and I 100% absolutely stumble. We all do- no matter how enlightened or spiritual the people you follow on social media “project” themselves to be. So, here’s to all of us trying to figure out how to get ahead and crush-it while not missing the beauty that’s right in front of us."

2 Tristan Thompson

For Khloe Kardashian, 2018 was a year of ups and downs. From learning that she was pregnant with her first child after facing infertility problems in the past to finding out that her boyfriend,  Tristan Thompson, was unfaithful several weeks before the arrival of their baby, it was a rough year.

Since then, Khloe has found a refuge in the love of her family and in her new role as a mother. While both parents try to decipher the best way to co-parent their daughter, True, they are giving to each other a second chance.

But during Christmas, fans realized that the professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers wasn't in any of the pictures from Kim Kardashian West‘s Christmas Eve party. So, speculation began again about what was up. But the reality was that the Cavalier team was not able to celebrate the holidays with their families due to a scheduled game in Cleveland on Dec. 23, and another one in Memphis, Tennessee on Dec. 26. Due to his career, Tristan is most of the time travelling to play different games with his team, for which is why he is considered a part-time dad.

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso have kept a low profile. His wife prefers to stay out of the media's eye while raising the kids, whereas Damon is always working in several movies and projects. And although Matt is a loving father, he prefers to keep his family away from the spotlight so they can have a normal life, while he remains active with his projects that allow him to give his family the life they have, even if sometimes, that means long periods of time away.
