Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason haven’t had an easy past few weeks after losing custody of three of their children. However, this past weekend the parents were able to take their mind off the drama as they reunited with some of their children to celebrate Jenelle’s son Kaiser’s 5th birthday- with her ex, too!

The former Teen Mom 2 star posted several photos of her and her children from the occasion, which was held on Saturday, June 29th. In one photo, Jenelle posed alongside the birthday boy and her youngest child, daughter Ensley. In another shot, the mom-of-three stood beside Kaiser as he blew out the candles on his Scooby-Doo themed caked.

“Can’t believe you are 5 already!” Jenelle captioned the photos “You might be getting older but you’re still my baby. #MommasBoy #HappyBirthday.”

What was even more surprising is that Jenelle and David were able to attend the event alongside Kaiser’s father, Nathan Griffith, who has been fighting for full-time custody of the boy even before the couple were stripped of their rights. A week ago, David made headlines for shouting at Nathan outside of the court room and threatening to expose his family’s ‘secrets.’

As such, the fact that the two could attend Kaiser’s party with seemingly no drama seems like a step in the right direction. Jenelle’s mother Barbara Evans, who has full custody of the reality star’s 9-year old son Jace, even commented on it. “Omg Nathan on left David on right today at Kaiser’s Birthday Party,” she captioned a photo that showed David and Nathan helping set-up for the event. “Finally all getting along.”

Nonetheless, many fans couldn’t help but post in the comments section they were concerned Jenelle and David were only acting on their best behaviour in order to help their custody case. The two previously lost custody of Kaiser, their daughter Ensley, and David’s daughter, 11-year old Maryssa, after he made headlines for killing the family’s French bulldog. Ensley is temporarily staying with Barbara, while Maryssa is with her maternal grandmother. Nathan is currently caring for Kaiser full-time.

Earlier this month, Jenelle told Us Weekly she thought her relationship with her mother was completely over given the custody drama, though she appears to have a change of heart. “I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point. This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter,” she told the publication.

At the moment, it remains unclear when or if Jenelle and David will regain custody. Hopefully, Kaiser’s birthday marks the start of the couple getting along better with their children’s other parents and guardians, and perhaps it’s the first step towards the pair becoming involved in their kids’ lives once again.
