Parents all over the internet have shared hilarious videos of their children finding out that the family is expecting another baby. Some children welcome the news with excitement and squeals, while others start crying and ask their parents, “WHY?!” Once the announcement is made, parents can then start preparing their children to become older siblings. For dancer and actress Jenna Dewan, her daughter is proving to be more prepared than expected for her new sibling to arrive this spring.

Dewan’s daughter, Everly, is 6-1/2 going on 26 for how “adult” she feels about becoming a big sister. Dewan recently told reporters, “She just said to me this morning, ‘I’m preparing myself for that baby to cry all the time’. It was so adult and she asked me if the baby cried in the night if she could get out of her bed and go sing the baby song. And I was like, that is so sweet.”

Dewan must feel so proud that her daughter is stepping up to her role as a big sister. Although the exact date has not been disclosed, most are assuming the baby is due this spring. This means Everly still has a couple more months to keep preparing for the new baby too.

Some children have trouble adjusting to becoming an older sibling. Younger children may not completely understand why their parents devote so much time and attention to a new baby and begin to act out because of it. Parents can try to combat this by involving all their children in baby responsibilities. Toddlers are capable of getting diapers, clothes, or a pacifier for their new sibling. They can also help play with the baby, sing songs, or just cuddle together. Older children can help by giving the baby a bottle, watching the baby while mom is in the shower, or help fold the never-ending pile of laundry that comes with a baby.

Dewan is currently raising Everly with her ex-husband Channing Tatum and boyfriend Steve Kazee, father of the new baby. Though there has been some drama between Tatum and Dewan regarding shared custody of Everly, it seems as though things are changing for the better. Tatum even expressed his support for Dewan and her baby. He also said he “loves” how excited Everly is for the baby. Hopefully, everything will continue to be amicable between everyone, and that things will go smoothly when the baby arrives!
