Jennifer Garner tried to sell her baby food at a Kroger store and she failed miserably.
Jennifer Garner has been known for her strict rules when it comes to the kitchen. Garner makes sure that her children are eating healthy and organic food. She doesn't want to make it so that her children are controlled by food, and that they understand how to treat their bodies with the proper nutrition. She decided to take her love for children and healthy foods and create her own organic food brand.
The star created an organic food brand that she named "Once Upon a Farm", and she took to a nearby grocery store to let people try her baby food by giving out some free samples. Only a few people wanted to actually try some of her organic snacks.
Throughout the day, Garner recorded her experience at the supermarket on Instagram. Even though she was constantly being rejected, she kept on going with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She recounts that every time she would ask passersby if they wanted to try the samples, almost everybody said "no" and she would sweetly respond with "okay, I understand, thank you". Only three people accepted to try one of Garner's samples. All of the bold people (all three of them - woo!), enjoyed their baby food tasting. The little baby who ended up trying the food ate the entire sample and then even went back for more. One of the adult samplers said, "That's good! I would eat that!" Finally, a Kroger employee gave Garner the thumbs up.
All of us over here who've watched the Instagram story were just thinking, "Jennifer Garner, I would eat anything you handed me." Although it's sad to know that Garner flopped, it is relieving to know that even celebrities like her fail sometimes at things. It does surprise us all that she wasn't able to get more traction. You would think it was because shoppers didn't recognize who she was, right?
Marketing tip: maybe play 13 Going on 30 in the background for the next sample session.
