Last Friday, Joanna Gaines, host of Fixer Upper, a reality television series about home design and renovation that airs on HGTV, shared a slideshow of photos on Instagram of her family vacation in Tulum, Mexico. The highlight was the appearance of her baby son Crew, who made his first trip to the beach.

“Leaving Tulum with rest minds and full hearts,” Joanna, 40, captioned the slideshow. In the first picture, Crew, 9-months-old, is shown with his tiny feet on the sand watching the waves crash. The infant, who was wearing a stylish black and white striped onesie, was held up by his big sister.

Joanna, who has just launched her own home goods collection for Anthropologie, also shared a heartwarming moment of Crew on her Instagram Stories writing, “First time to feel the sand and ocean on his toes.” In the next image, Joanna showed Crew playing in an activity chair with palm trees and the ocean in the background. She also appeared walking arm-in-arm with one of her young daughters.

Joanna and her husband Chip are also the proud parents of Emmie Kay, 9, Ella Rose, 13, Duke, 13, and Drake, 14. Chip has recently revealed that the couple will be launching their own network with original programming with Discover.

The last picture in the slideshow shows the whole family enjoying dinner on the beach in the evening. Crew, born last June, will soon turn one and has already had his first teeth come in, which Joanna also documented on Instagram.

“He’s proud of his first TWO teeth!” she wrote at the time. In one of the pictures, the infant can be seen playing with a wooden toy, showing off his new teeth.

Joanna has spoken on occasion of the challenges of managing such a large family as well as her numerous business endeavors, which include The Magnolia Journal, a lifestyle magazine. “We have a lot of help,” Gaines told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last November, referring to her older children who help take care of their baby brother.

“He’s the sweetest, sweetest boy. [His siblings] love him,” Joanna said. “Our oldest is 13, the youngest before Crew is 8, [so] we have a lot of help. All the kids love to hold the baby.”

The family live in a large farmhouse in Waco, Texas, that is frequently featured on Fixer Upper. The couple admit to being homebodies, preferring to be at home rather than anywhere else. Though for this outing, they chose Tulum, a town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula that is a popular vacation spot for Americans. It is renowned for its beaches and well-preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city.
