It's without a doubt that Jodie Sweetin has gone through a lot in her life. And while there are plenty of childhood actors that have a tough time trying to pick themselves up after they’ve fallen down so many times (the entertainment industry is a brutal one, after all), Jodie is different. She’s preserved and she’s managed to dust off the mess in her life and start all over again and with success, too.

These days she’s not only enjoying being a part of the hugely popular Netflix reboot Fuller House, but she’s also got nothing but love and peace in her life, too. With that said, a lot of people can’t help but see just how different she is when compared to her co-star Candace Cameron Bure and how the two raise their families. Here’s what you need to know.

10 Jodie’s Not So Picture Perfect Life

Jodie Sweetin has two daughters named Beatrix and Zoie and according to the actress, she’s not the kind of person who will post picture-perfect photos on social media. Because according to her, that’s just not the way she operates in her personal life.

Unlike Cameron, not everything is perfectly curated for social media, nor does she want it to be that way. Jodie also told The Fix, “Posting pictures—without makeup or filters—of me at home with kids and living my normal life alongside the more glamorous parts of my job is something I try to balance in my online life.”

9 Her Solid Family Life

Little do people know that Jodie was actually married three times in her life. Unlike her co-star Cameron, she doesn’t pretend to have the answer or the perfect marriage. But what she does have is a solid foundation when it comes to her family and their support.

“I think the best defense against the craziness of this business is a solid family life. Unfortunately, many people are not blessed with that foundation, whether in this business or not,” Jodie told The Fix, adding, “I’ve had an amazing family support system and never blamed my addiction on growing up in the business.”

8 She’s Honest About Everything

There’s nothing that Jodie won’t talk about with her daughters, Beatrix and Zoie. She is honest about the mistakes that she has made in her past and says that when her girls grow up, she plans on telling them more of her story. Jodie doesn’t want to sugar coat anything, in other words. A lot of people believe that Cameron has a different approach, in which she relies more on her faith for giving her answers.

“I’ve always been incredibly open and honest with my girls. We have a wonderfully communicative relationship and as they get older, I’ll be able to share more of my story,” Jodie said, via The Fix.

7 Her Kids Can Watch What They Want

Candace was a very strict mother while her children were growing up. There were certain things they weren’t allowed to do or watch. In fact, Candace refused to sign on for roles unless they were family-friendly. Jodie isn’t as strict. Her kids could watch Stranger Things on Netflix and it would be perfectly fine.

Whereas everything in Candace’s family life is faith-based, that’s not the case with Jodie Sweetin. She’s teaching her kids the difference between right and wrong and how to make the best decisions. In other words, she wants to trust their judgment.

6 Her Children Are Her Inspiration

Jodie has a very relaxed attitude when it comes to parenting. She doesn’t post coordinated outfits with her daughters, nor does she try to push them in the spotlight. Instead, Jodie relies on her girls to give her the energy and motivation to face any hardships presented by work.

When asked what inspires her the most, Jodie told Naluda Magazine, “My children and my family. Whenever I have a bad day, or I’m tired, or things just feel a little grey, I look at the faces of my two daughters, Zoie and Beatrix and I know that I can do anything!”

5 Her Thoughts On Raising Kids In Hollywood

While Candace has made it no secret that she is definitely encouraging her teenage daughter Natasha to perhaps try her hand at a Hollywood career of her own, Jodie is taking a different approach. She first wants her kids to find their passion and to ultimately do what they love. Them being happy is what matters most.

Jodie told Naluda Mag, “This is a business of extreme highs and lows! You can be on top of the world and then not knowing where your next job may be coming from, but if it’s what you truly love, there is nothing like it!”

4 She Doesn’t Have All The Answers

While a lot of celebrity moms like to think that they have all the answers when it comes to parenting and raising their children in the spotlight, Jodie isn’t one of them. As a matter of fact, she admits that she’s still learning something new each day.

Plus, as a working mom, she tries to balance her professional life with her personal life the best she can, but it’s not always easy. Jodie admits that when she’s being pulled in one direction, she feels the need to go in the other one at the same time, too. Most mothers can definitely relate.

3 She’s Not Into The Red Carpet Life

While Candace Cameron Bure loves to hit as many red carpets as possible, Jodie is the complete opposite. She loves to simply stay home and spend time with her family. Getting dressed up and glammed up just isn’t her thing anymore.

Her best days are the ones that she gets to spend at home with her kids. “It depends on if I’m working or not, but when I’m just enjoying life at home, I’m usually up early getting my daughters to school, off to the gym, home to take care of business calls, cooking dinner and trying to balance my home and work life!” she explained to Naluda Magazine.

2 She’s Not That Interested In Social Media

While Candace pays attention to the cameras when they are looking at her, Jodie is less interested in the attention. She is raising her kids to be less superficial and less “social media” perfect, to say the least. She doesn’t like what some social media apps are doing to kids.

Jodie told The Fix, “I think social media tells us, particularly young people, that we’re not “enough” and the rates of depression and suicide among youth is most definitely a direct correlation of comparing our insides to other people’s outsides. We see edited, perfect versions of people’s lives that don’t really exist and then feel our lives can’t possibly compare.”

1 Mistakes Are Ok

Jodie wants her two daughters to know that it’s okay to make mistakes and that it should be a part of their everyday learning experience. After all, no one is perfect, right? She also wants her kids to know that no matter what they decide to do or what path they choose in life, she will be there to back them up.

With that being said, she doesn’t want to push them in a certain direction. Instead, she wants them to choose their own paths. She also doesn’t censor so much as Candace does. Compared to Candace, she is much more laid back.
