On Monday, April 1st, 25-year old singer Justin Bieber posted a photo on Instagram of a sonogram leaving fans both confused and excited. After recently getting married to his wife Hailey Baldwin, many fans were under the impression the timing of the post- on April Fools' day- was a mere coincidence. After all, Justin Bieber wouldn't stoop so low as to post a fake pregnancy announcement as an April Fools' joke, would he?

Upon posting the sonogram, Hailey Baldwin replied in the comments "Very funny...", showing fans that there may not be a baby Bieber after all. Bieber then followed up with three pictures of his wife in a doctor's office showing her stomach being examined, captioning "If U thought it was April fools". Not long thereafter, he uploaded a third post but this time it was a photo of a puppy photoshopped into a sonogram picture, showing his fans he was indeed joking.

Needless to say, not long after the joke was confirmed, the backlash ensued. Many women took to Twitter saying that it was inconsiderate of Justin to post such a thing when there are so many women out there who are struggling with infertility and we couldn't agree more. Pregnancy is a wonderful gift and to make light of something that is so painful to lose or not have at all, makes fans question Justin Bieber's thought process prior to posting the sonogram.

The singer is also reportedly struggling with depression but sources say he is receiving treatment. Whether he meant to offend the millions of women (and men too!) out there who are personally affected by pregnancy struggles or if he meant it purely as a joke, it's important to note that in any case, pregnancy should never be a joke. It's a life-changing event that not everyone has the ability to experience.

On Tuesday, one day after the post was made, Justin Bieber took to Instagram again apologizing for his insensitive post. "There's always gonna be people offended, there are also people who don't take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn't mean to be insensitive to people who can't have children...But I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to the people who were offended". It definitely wasn't the kind of apology his fans were looking for but it was definitely better than nothing.
